Each year, we have a couple of our wrestlers run cross country, but this year we have our biggest group yet with 8 wrestlers competing.

Today, 5 of them ran their first race at Fultondale. Congratulations to all of the cross country boys and girls this morning on a great race, with a lot of PRs

Congratulations to Jax Cooper taking 3rd at the Super 32 qualifier in Georgia. Getting him ready for the Super 32 tournament in October. Super 32 is viewed as one of the toughest folk style tournaments in the US.

This weekend, several of our wrestlers traveled to Birmingham to compete in the Deep South Nationals Tournament against some of the best competition from across the region.

Jax Cooper placed 4th, finishing the weekend 2-2. His losses came to wrestlers from Tennessee (3rd in the state) and South Carolina.

Ruben Gomez finished 3-2, with his only losses coming to competitors from Missouri and Louisiana (Louisiana State Runner-Up).

Noah Davis also went 3-2, falling to the Louisiana State Champion and a wrestler from Missouri.

Haley Pate competed in the duals and posted an impressive 8-4 record over the weekend.

We’re proud of the way these athletes represented Brookwood while competing against outstanding competition. We’d like to wish the seniors (Noah, Samuel, Haley, Ethan, and Skyler) who competed one more time good luck. With the school year about to begin, our focus now shifts to preparing for the wrestling season, which is just around the corner

Just a shoutout to some of our wrestlers for starting off June with a strong work ethic. Many of them are putting in extra time with wrestling and football practices in the mornings, then heading to club practices in the evenings to continue improving.

On Monday, we had several wrestlers attend an outstanding mini camp hosted by Montevallo. Then on Tuesday, a dedicated group showed up for an additional practice to get more work in.

Keep grinding and making the most of every opportunity to improve!

With a lot of tryouts around the corner here is the annual physical date at DCH for the Tuscaloosa city and county schools. Brookwoods time is 8:30 AM. That physical will be good for 365 days. Make sure you keep your physical after completion and also take photos of the front and back just in case.

Last week was a busy one for many members of the wrestling team.

Tuesday: The team held its end-of-the-year party at Lucky Strike Bowling.

Wednesday: Two of our wrestlers were selected for the Tuscaloosa City/County Senior Top 10, recognizing them as being among the top ten highest GPAs at Brookwood.

Saturday: Six wrestlers competed in the Alabama State Tournament, working to qualify for the Fargo National Team in two styles. Congratulations to Jax Cooper on qualifying for Fargo

We’d like to congratulate Jax Cooper, Noah Davis, Justin Harbin, Ruben Gomez, Haley Pate, Molly Eaton, and Lainey Green on being named to the Tuscaloosa News All-Area First Team.

A special congratulations to Jax and Haley for being voted Wrestlers of the Year, and to Coach Bailey for being selected as Tuscaloosa Coach of the Year.
