\ Race Day Recap \
We went to US 24 last night.
2nd A-Wing start. Ezra went out for hot laps and was having problems with his injection again. Luckily Devan Myers was there to help get that straightened out.

Ezra, once again, got the worst possible pill draw and heat start. This time starting in the back with a lot of fast drivers in front of him…only to be taken out by slowest car on the track. Luckily we had a fully built front end ready to go to put on the car💸

He went out for the feature and drove his little butt off!!

Thank you to Competitive Performance for the crazy strong motor and for being there whenever we need anything!

We would also like to send thoughts and prayers to those injured last night. There were a few pretty scary incidents and we just hope everyone is ok🙏

8 years ago today! This was before he even started racing. Now he is taller than Kyle Larson Racing and Jamie McMurray. He froze up when he was suppose to ask a question and ended up being interviewed, with the one and only Doug Boles behind the mic Indianapolis Motor Speedway

Ezra has been wanting to run without the restrictor plate for a long time now. He proved that he could adjust to and manage the track and since we had to put a new motor in the car this week anyway, the plate didn’t go back in. Thank you Competitive Performance Devan Myers for making that happen. Now…I wasn’t aware of this until a few days ago so I’ve been dealing with some anxiety🤪 I have zero doubt in his abilities but a lot can go wrong that has nothing to do with him.
Anyway, we went to US 24 Speedway tonight. Ezra’s pill draw had him starting 2nd in his heat race. He finished 2nd!! He started 5th in the feature. He drove sooo well!!! He about got taken out a few times but held his own and drove on.
A yellow came out and he restarted in 6th but did some really awesome racing and finished 4th out of 16 drivers, and he might’ve been the youngest one out there! He had so much fun and we are so proud of him💙
Papaw is getting around much better, thank goodness, and was able to be there again this weekend😊

After changing the whole charging system in the car(for maybe the 4th or 5th time out of 25ish races) we made a trip to Coles County for the first time this season. It didn’t make a bit of difference. The car still didn’t run right. Ezra said he could run it at about 80% throttle without it cutting out so we told him to just go run it. He went out for the feature and did an amazing job of adjusting and keeping just the right amount of foot in it. There were a few moments where it cut out here and there but he was running fantastic lines. He ended up finishing 6th, with ~70hp(he did the math) and had the 3rd fastest lap in the feature. Hopefully we can figure out whatever the issue is because trips to the track(not being competitive) and meaningless repairs aren’t cheap.

Ezra always amazes us with his ability to adjust to pretty much any issue. He has fought an intermittent power steering glitch(drove the wall with two tires at one point), unknowingly lost most of his right front wheel throughout a race once and just kept adjusting as needed, he cartwheeled and got stuck in the fence after launching off of a right rear and kept going to finish the race, he endured a really bad flip a month ago and hopped right back in to drive a thrown together car in the b main(missed the transfer by 1 spot). He has had countless disappointments due to mechanical failures. He has had bad calls and was given a DNF and somehow placed lower than 2 or 3 wrecked cars and someone who got out of her car in front of him, during a red flag, even though he would’ve finished the race if they hadn’t called it(he wasn’t involved in the wreck whatsoever). He just keeps pushing on, with more determination every time. I don’t know how much longer I can witness the heartbreak.

Papaw made the trip over last night. He has only missed a handful of races, in 8 years, because he absolutely couldn’t be there due to surgery and not being able to walk. 8 years ago when Ezra drove straight into the wall, after losing his steering wheel, papaw actually hurdled the wall to get to him.

There was some excitement, due to a track incident, that rolled over to the end of the night🚨🚓👮‍♂️

Delayed update from this last Saturday night…
After flipping at the last race and then having to wait 4 or 5 weeks to race again, due to weather and work, Ezra was so excited to get back on the track. If this kid didn’t have bad luck, he would have no luck👎
He went out for hot laps and the car wasn’t running right. Came off of the track and the charging system wasn’t working properly. Tried charging the battery before the heat race and the same thing. Thank you to Myles Bartley and family for letting us borrow a new battery for the B main!! It fired right up and he was so excited but when he got on the track, the voltage still dropped. He was hanging in there but pulled off of the track because he didn’t want to mess anything up. This has happened and we have replaced all of the components of this system way too many times. We’re going to try something completely different and hope that it is no longer an issue🤞
Thank goodness for the moral support from friends and family and for new friends made.
Mamaw and papaw finally made it back to the track, after papaw’s knee replacement. Grandma and Grandpa and Aunt Heather and Uncle Aron made it up. Thank you all for being there!
Ezra’s racing buddies are the best at raising his spirits, after disappointment, when nothing that I say helps at all 💙
Congratulations to a .25 midget racing friend Etherington Motorsports who was racing his 3rd(I think) micro race ever and finished 2nd!!
Another .25 midget friend(one of Ezra’s best friends) Denny Pittak Racing finished 3rd!! Some of his other friends got special awards and did very well, too.
After the happenings a month ago, where a young kid was severely burned in an incident, in OK, we did start the night off with
-A Purple-K fire extinguisher to have available on the golf cart✅
-A full sized ABC fire extinguisher donated to us✅
-A new fire suppression system for Ezra’s car✅
🙏Continued prayers for Case Higgins and his family for the strength they continue to show throughout the lengthy and painful recovery process that they have been faced with
