✅ 337.92 MPH — new career-best speed✅ Made it to the second round✅ Had to re-run E2 after a timing-system issue in the other lane — something we’ve never experienced before.
Our first E2 run happened, and the circumstances surrounding what our team was asked to do afterward mattered. We never had the opportunity Sunday to share our perspective.
We made a full pull, but were eventually told the run would be thrown out because of the timing issue in the other lane.
We weren’t included in the conversations surrounding that decision. About 20 minutes after the re-run was announced, we finally learned we were expected back on the starting line before the semifinals — less than an hour later.
During the original run, I sat on the high side with the clutch out for 12 seconds waiting for the tree to drop. We made the full run but hurt additional parts in the process, leaving us with limited inventory to prepare the car again.
With the shortened turnaround, we couldn’t check the track, do our normal full nitro prep or make all the final adjustments we normally would before a run. Still, our team got the car back to the starting line. On the re-run, we smoked the tires at the hit and lost the round.
I don’t share this because we lost or to take anything away from our competitor. We accepted the call and raced.
There are things in racing completely outside of your control. All you can control is how you respond.
And I’m incredibly proud of how this group responded. With limited time, limited parts and a situation none of us had navigated before, they did everything they could to give me another race car. That’s the scrappiness and heart it takes for our little team to compete out here.
And to everyone who came by offering parts, help, hands or support — thank you. It meant more than you probably realize.
We’ll figure things out on our end and decide together what the next steps look like for our team.
