When I brought in Coach Shiloh to team Heat Stx, I knew she would inspire some of our girls.
Miss Amy had a speech assignment for her school. She made the speech about Coach Shiloh.
I am grateful Miss Amy is inspired by her,
And I hope other girls get inspired by her as well.

Amy's speech:
●When I went to a volleyball tournament in Mcallen, I met someone who really stood out to me—Shiloh Jones. You might think she's just a regular coach like any other, but I'm honestly so grateful I met her. Before that tournament, I was constantly confused about whether volleyball was truly for me or just a side hobby. But after meeting Shiloh, she helped me find real passion in the sport, even though I still feel a little unsure sometimes. I didn't know at first that Shiloh plays volleyball in college, so she understands exactly how I feel. Throughout the summer, she invited me to more tournaments. She created camps for girls who felt the same way I did or who wanted to improve their skills. I went to as many as I could, and each time I grew—not just as a player, but in my love for volleyball. She always made sure every girl felt comfortable and welcomed while learning new strategies and helpful tips.
Shiloh is optimistic, always carrying a hopeful and positive attitude, dignified, staying calm and composed even in tough situations, determined, staying focused on her goals, working hard when things get difficult, and refusing to give up. She gives her time to run these camps and tournaments without ever asking for anything in return.
The optimism Shiloh carries as a person is immeasurable. Of course, there are moments when she gets frustrated or feels like giving up, but honestly, who doesn’t feel that way at times
Even in those moments, there’s always a part of her pushing her forward, reminding her to keep going and believe in herself. I’ve seen Shiloh sacrifice her own personal time to help girls who reach out asking for lessons. Not once has she complained, because she sees it as an opportunity—not for herself, but for the girls who are willing to give everything to get better. She does it out of the kindness and patience in her heart.
Shiloh isn’t just optimistic — she’s dignified too. She’s probably coached around 50 different girls at only 19 years old, and that alone shows how calm and composed she is. People think it’s easy to coach a sport you’ve played for years, but it’s a whole different challenge when you’re teaching girls who aren’t coachable, don’t listen, have attitudes, or don’t want to participate. It takes a lot of strength to stay composed through all of that.
But beyond being optimistic and dignified, she’s incredibly determined, never stepping away from the challenges she takes on. Aside from being a volleyball coach, she’s also a volleyball player and a student. She’s balancing both at the same time, and even if it might not seem easy she’s staying focused and pushing through. She first picked up a volleyball in 7th grade, starting later than many of the girls around her, but she didn’t let that hold her back. She pushed through one of her biggest challenges — getting injured — and she didn’t let that stop her or get in the way of her goals. That’s the kind of dedication that gives me hope.
I’m blessed to stand here today and talk about Shiloh Jones, someone who has truly made an impact on me. What makes her stand out is how much she does for others, and seeing that has made me want to do the same. Her determination, optimism, and dignity have inspired me to start my own path of volunteering my time and resources to help girls who are in the position I once was. She’s influenced my life in many ways, teaching me lessons that opened my eyes and helped me consider new opportunities. Even my sister who has now grown under Shiloh’s wing, learning new strategies and enjoying volleyball without feeling the pressure to be perfect. I’m grateful to have met her, grown closer to her, and to continue being coached by her. She will always be my inspiration and someone I look up to every day. Please join me in a round of applause for this devoted individual

Normally, every tournament has an MVP award. They didn't give one out at the last 12u tournament, but no worries—Coach Shiloh and I would like to give a huge shout-out to our own MVP!
Congratulations to Miss Valerie! đŸ”„đŸđŸ’Ș
Valerie has come such a long way with us since she started back in October/November. She has been working incredibly hard to get to where she is today. When I say she has made a huge jump, I truly mean it! She went from playing just a couple of rotations in the back row and not serving, to playing all-around, serving, and coming in clutch right when we need her. She always steps up and embraces the challenge whenever her name is called.
We are so proud of you, Valerie. Keep putting in the work and keep striving for greatness!

"I want to express my deepest gratitude to the father and daughter who came up to me to ask about my daughter and wish her a quick recovery. It meant so much to connect with another dad who truly understands the lengths we will go to for our daughters. Thank you both so much for your kindness and for your incredibly generous donation. It means more than words can say."

Probably our last middle school camp of the summer. Manzano Middle School volleyball girls, it was an awesome camp. Lots of energy, lots of smiles, lots of learning. That's what it's all about. Coach Shiloh and I are thankful for this opportunity.
