Hays Havoc was back out on the diamond this weekend! ⚾️

It was a different format than we’re used to, but it was still a fun weekend of baseball. Four pool-play games, with the top two seeds advancing to play for the championship.

Saturday:
We took care of business, going 2-0 with wins over a Sliders team 8-2 and a Canes team 10-7.

Sunday:
Our first game was against the other undefeated team, and we knew going in that this game was for a spot in the championship. They knew it too. They brought in a really good pitcher specifically to face us.
Honestly, that’s a compliment to this team. We’ve reached the point where teams are often using their ace or bringing in players specifically to compete against Havoc. We have a lot of great pitching ourselves, so this one was a battle from the very beginning.
Tip of the hat to the Splitters. They got the job done, and unfortunately for us, we just couldn’t get off the field once we had two outs. We gave up 7 two-out runs throughout the game, and that was simply too much to overcome.

In the next game, we got some opportunities to get other pitchers some work, they stepped up and took care of business with a 9-5 win over GBA.
Unfortunately, another team avoided both us and the Splitters to go 3-0-1, which put them into the championship game alongside the Splitters. That left us on the outside looking in.

Not the finish we wanted, but another great weekend of baseball, another opportunity to compete, and another chance to see the development of this group.

Havoc finished the weekend 3-1.
