On Saturday we, Air Force Girls Walking for a Cause had a great time at the Veterans One-stop Center who sponsored an amazing event “Women Warriors - Honoring Women Veterens”.
Lots of resources, great lunch, inspirational speakers, and an opportunity for Women Veterans to engage, and embrace our Service, and our journeys, past and present. I had a wonderful massage, they had a fun Photo Booth, and gorgeous cupcakes!
Prior to the event, we did our walk , shorter than normal doesn’t matter , gotta get out there and move. We did an area close to the center and cruised down to Allen street to visit the spots of Old Pink and Mulligans.
We paid respect to the senseless murders in the Allentown community recently and as everyone else, we just want to find a way to stop these acts of violence.
We also walked in remembrance of our own Militaty member Don Platts and our donation of choice went to The Summit House Center by request of family which provides life-changing opportunities for children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities

Until next time, here is something we learned from our little retreat from one of the speakers
34 Minute Mindset :
2 minutes in the morning for gratitude/peace/calmness
30 minutes of movement. However you can do it.
2 minutes in the evening or before bed. 2 minutes of reflection/celebration of you, your day, and getting thru the challenges.
Make it your routine.
Peace. ✌️

We sponsored this shelter dog for training when he was Army City of Buffalo Animal Shelter as one of our gals volunteers at the shelter and knew him well before he moved into foster care….
Check out his amazing journey! So many of our own Military people start out “rough around the edges” at times and truly succeed with dedication, commitment, guidance and someone to believe in them.
Just like Sarge.

The other day, we brushed our snowshoes off and utilized them on a crisp sunny morning with the beautiful snow.
It was peaceful, cleansing with the cold air, and we had good conversation while getting some exercise. We saw some deer embrace the weather, run across the frozen pond and you can’t help but be in awe of nature, how each species survive, and that we are just a super small piece of the puzzle on this Earth.
Find a way to get out and enjoy the outdoors, even in the winter. ❄️. It really takes on a new meaning and if you allow it, will fill your soul in a very different way.
We were missing one of ourAir Force Girls Walking for a Cause members Lyn McClurg as she was in KC for the game creating her own memories. 🙂.
We did donate from our trek, to Pasadena Humane to help animals in need from the fires in L.A. Sue Mahler

We are grateful and thankful that myself and Lisa Perila can do the honor of flags on graves of fallen soldiers every year . It reminds us of all that they gave so we can live free. To walk in the rain and picture in your mind what they may have endured is humbling. We respect and honor. Sue Mahler was amazing in putting so many flags out and finding gravestones that so many missed…..
Remember - Freedom isn’t Free as we all enjoy this day because of those who gave their lives….

Yesterday morning we took a lovely trek at Chestnut Ridge Park and although it was quite muddy and sloppy, the weather was a nice warm Spring temperature and we finished before the skies opened with rain.
This time of year, when it rains, the air has a distinctive “Spring smell” to it where you know things are beginning to grow and emerge from winter hibernation.
As always, we had many conversations and we realized that each phase of life brings something new, and no matter what…. You can get thru it with good friends. (And DOGS). Marhsall, Adina and Remi just took it all in and needed a good cleaning post hike.
The donation of choice from our venture is “Bandits Roundup”, an independent trapper in our area who helps with the TNR initiative with feral cats. It’s an incredibly good deed and much needed. We applaud her work. It’s often that “one man” show that gets things done.
Until next walk.. take a look around you each day as new life pops up all around us after the rains and as we forge forward into a new Season.
Peace. ✌️. Sue Mahler Lyn McClurg

I am posting an update on behalf of this group. Our Social Media coordinator needs a little break….So today we took to the paths at beautiful Fort Niagara. A piece of American history that is often forgotten right in our own backyard. We had a wonderful walk exploring this park with our gang. We missed Davis today but he got a solid walk earlier this morning. Our group is supporting the Western New York Gold Star Mothers. They support families who have lost a child serving our country. While we are going through challenges we continue to support each other and we never take that for granted. Until our next trek… Suzanne Laba

We may have skipped walking today and supported the Broadway Market instead, seen the Easter Bunny and stopped at Dick’s East Side Inn to have a toast before the crowds came in….
HAPPY EASTER from our crew and we are still donating, walking and supporting our Community.
Be Thankful for those in your life.
Be Grateful for what you have.
Enjoy the small moments in life because it’s all the small moments that make your life a complete picture.
