Every purchase helps us make a difference for Thoroughbreds in three important ways:

1️⃣ Gelding Incentive
Helping encourage responsible decisions that give more Thoroughbreds a better chance at successful, sustainable futures.

2️⃣ Proactively Helping the Tougher Placement Cases
Some horses are simply harder to place than others. We want to step in before they end up in less-than-ideal situations and help connect these horses with their unicorn homes from the start — the right horse, the right person, the right fit. 🦄

3️⃣ Emergency Rescue Cases
When a Thoroughbred finds themselves in an urgent or critical situation, we want to be there. Cases like W**e Responsibly and Datesfreedom are reminders that sometimes a horse simply needs someone willing to step up when it matters most.

So when you purchase Finger Lakes Finest merchandise, you’re not just getting a shirt, hat, or piece of gear.

You’re helping give a Thoroughbred a better chance at the future they deserve. ❤️🐎

Thank you for wearing your support, sharing our mission, and helping us continue this work — one horse at a time.

Strand Road. 2022, 16.3 bay gelding with bling
Located at Fingerlakes Race Track in Farmington, NY (Near Rochester, NY)

If you are looking for long and tall, Strand Road might be your guy. This 16.3+ guy has a gorgeous shoulder, a lovely overtrack at the walk and it is clear he knows how to use his hind end when jogging. He has solid feet, solid bone and a serious dose of bling to boot. His trainer said he has “has zero issues.” All that and he probably has an inch or two more to grow before he finishes out. We imagine him in the hunt field or the show ring! He is quiet in his stall and was happy to just hang with us on a loose line, nuzzle for mints and be admired. He is reported to have no vices, goes out to the races with no pony, and a very good boy in every way.

Strand Road is by Astern, who is by the highly desirable Medaglia D’oro, sought after for athleticism, jumping ability, movement, and incredible brains. Eventers have loved Astern offspring. He’s out of a Thunder Gulch mare, also known for trainability and jumping ability. Despite his “speed-bred” pedigree, he has shown no interest in using it on the track, so let’s get this gorgeous guy his new human!

PLACED

Roshiell My Belle, 2022, 16.2 H, dark bay filly
Located at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, NY (near Rochester)

Roshiell is a truly lovely four year old mare who showed off her ladylike manners when she came out for pictures and a jog video. Her trainer lamented “she was once a really competitive horse until she got a taste of the good life while turned out back at the farm.” Now, it seems “she just doesn’t want to be back at the track and doesn’t seem to care to race.” She still “trains great” and “gallops like a flight train during morning workouts but then she is done for the day.” The trainer has often ridden her himself and mentioned that “when she is happy she will let you know with a few happy bucks” but she has never been known to rear or bolt.

This dark bay, almost black beauty stands a solid 16.2 and is completely race-fit at the moment. In the stall she is all manners and easy to work around. She is said to be “completely sound. ” At her age she could go in any direction and she probably has some growing left to do as well.

Troubler 2022 16.1 bay mare
Located at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, NY (near Rochester)

Troubler is anything but that based on our recent visit. Rather, she is a “well-loved lap dog” of a filly who “is good with her handlers, good with her neighbors and is “easy in the stall and easy to get on.” Her trainer says “even after days of no work she behaves and is no trouble at all.” She is nicely balanced, compact, has solid feet, “frames up nicely” and is said to be sound with no issues. She visited with us on a loose line, enjoyed the attention and jogged easily, proving herself to be a sweetheart of a filly. She “has not been running well “and the owner “sees no reason to winter her over for another season” so she is primed for the RRP Makeover or whatever new career awaits her.
Bubbles, as she is affectionately known, has strong sport horse influence on both sides of her pedigree: Into Mischief offers “incredible athleticism, quick reflexes, powerful hindquarters, and trainable minds” while on her damside she is by a Mr. Greely mare who also carries an impressive sporthorse reputation.

Frosty’s Smile, 2023 16 hand bay filly with bling
Located at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, NY (near Rochester)

Did you get a good look at these pictures? When this stunning filly came out for her session we all took a collective deep breath! What a beauty! She immediately reminded us all of Bustino Santino who we listed a few weeks ago and had a new home within hours of his listing. You can be sure she, too, will not be available for long. This stunner needs to be headed to the hunter ring - the children’s’ hunter ring -what with her fantastic good kooks, size, her balanced confirmation, solid feet and a serious dose of bling. She certainly enjoyed all the attention - and treats- we gave her and, in turn seemed happy to hang out on a loose line for pix and a quiet jog video. She is said to be “good in her stall, energetic, sweet and a happy horse.” Despite being described as “just slow” by her trainer, she then went on to suggest she’d be “a great barrel horse” given her size. That said, she still has some growing and maturing to look forward to as she heads to the hunter or dressage ring.

Those in the know were also impressed by her pedigree despite the fact that she does not seem to have inherited her daddy’s (Frosted) reputation for speed, but her Tapit lines come through in her movement and stunning looks.

Frosty Karina 2020, 16.2 liver chestnut mare
Located at Finger Lakes Racetrack in Farmington, NY (near Rochester)

This mare is so very nice! Her trainer described her as “a perfect mare who does nothing wrong except “she gets nervous at the track and does not want to race.” She’s a true liver chestnut, very sweet, and a beautiful hunter type mover by Frost Giant, out of a Smarty Jones mare — a great sport horse pedigree for sure! We listed her half brother out of the same mare, named She Speaks Well, who went on to do very well at last year's RRP in dressage. Before that we listed the half sister, Georgiana's Best, also a dark liver chestnut, and also a sweet cuddlebug who is now packing kids around the hunter courses at local shows in Pennsylvania.

Frosty Karina did not start training or race until her 5th year. Her breeder often starts her horses very late — sometimes doesn't even introduce them to saddle and bridle until they are 3 or even 4. So her late start is actually a huge “plus” for maturity and longevity in her next career. She has a strong overtrack at the walk, a powerful push from behind at the jog, solid feet, a beautiful shoulder and her legs are said to be “pristinely clean.” She has been around kids, is good in her stall and her trainer says “he will miss this one when she is gone.”

SWIFT BANK 2022, 16.2 h., dk. bay g..
Located at the Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington, NY (near Rochester, NY).

Calling all ‘Swifties’! You’ll have a lot of fun coming up with a barn name for this refined, tall, dark, and very handsome boy. Plus, he’ll already have an extensive playlist! Despite his name, Swift Bank has not been as swift on the track as his connections had originally hoped for; they’ve run him a few times with generally mediocre results, so they tell us they’d prefer this young, sound, gorgeous boy to ‘shake it off’ and find a new job. So, who is ready to write a ‘love story’ with a tall, refined, lightly raced (14 starts), friendly, super-smart, and well-mannered young gelding? Here he is!

We’re told that he is typically a good boy with no stall vices or issues; he’s smart and good about everything- whether being ponied, using the Eurociser, in his stall, and he also trailers well. We met him as he was being prepped for a Monday race, he was a tad distracted but polite and easily persuaded to strike some lovely poses once we offered him some peppermints. And he was a friendly cuddlebug when we hung out chatting in front of his stall afterwards.

Did we mention that he is gorgeous? He has an intelligent and pretty face. His long, elegant neck ties into a nicely sloped shoulder. He displayed a confident walk and a springy jog with push from behind. He gave the impression of being nicely forward, polite, balanced, and clever. Bred and trained for the longer distances, we could see him having great eventing potential, but he’s athletic (and certainly pretty) enough to go in any direction that you’d like to take him.

Swift Bank is by the popular Central Banker out of an Anabaa mare with Danzig and Seattle Slew also appearing on his dam side.

An update: as an added bonus, he capped off his race career with a win on 7/27! So, now is the time to say, ‘you belong with me’ and bring him home to be your next show pony!

SOLO FLIGHT, 2021, 16.1 h., ch g. Located at the Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington, NY (near Rochester, NY).

Hubba hubba came out of a few of the volunteers mouths when this stunning 5 year old walked out. Solo Flight has presence and looks huge despite his estimated height of 16.1h.

Solo has raced 26 times without bringing home a win. His trainer says he doesn't need a pony horse because he is so chill and just "isn't a racehorse". He has clean legs and solid feet, but he does prefer to have front shoes on.

Reported to have no vices, he is good in his stall. Solo is an easy handler as he stood for photos very happily on a loose lead. He likes peppermints and is very respectful about taking them.

Solo Flight is by a sire that is becoming quite popular, Solomini. His offspring are proving to have excellent brains and to be great movers and jumpers! He’s out of a Sky Mesa mare, who has Storm Cat and Pulpit lines, which often through athletic babies with loads of personality. This flashy gelding is sure to get you noticed in any arena!

MISS PAB, 2019, 15.3 h., dark bay mare. Located at the Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington, NY (near Rochester, NY).

If this post feels a little like déjà vu, it is. We posted this classy mare late last year but she unfortunately, she wasn’t placed before the season ended. We remembered her fondly and were delighted to see that she is just as lovely now. We’ve updated her photos and jog video.

The connections of this quiet and respectful mare always have nothing but superlatives to tell us about her. It was obvious to us that they deeply care for and admire her. We were told us that “she is the best” and very “smart”. We heard that she is such a great and easy horse on the farm and so trustworthy that over the winter, their young teen daughters feed, handle, and yes, even ride her at the farm. She was stated to be very sound, having no vices, and is easy to handle. It was even mentioned that she has the cleanest and easiest stall in the barn to clean (yes, we always love that when we are the ones on barn duty!).

She was a great model for her photo shoot- she stood quietly remaining alert, curious, and cooperative (and very happy to discover that peppermints were involved too!). She has a more compact build and balance. We liked the length of her shoulder and her powerful hindquarters. We loved the adorable heart-shaped marking on her pretty face, her dapples, and soft, shiny coat! She was attentive and relaxed, jogging quietly and politely for her handler. Overall, we observed a sweet, kind, well-mannered, and easy-going mare. She’s had a very respectable career- a true war horse mare. A gritty campaigner with 58 starts who in the past two years, facing tougher conditions, has struggled to get on the board. So, as the season is winding down, her connections seek only the very best of homes for their beloved girl. She certainly has won our respect- a well behaved and elegant lady with class, toughness, and demonstrated durability.

Miss Pab is by Exaggerator (Curlin) out of a Malibu Moon mare with Giant’s Causeway also appearing in her pedigree, some very popular sports sire lines. With her kindness, great brain, and solid work ethic, we could see her as a fun and agreeable partner, up for trying anything and everything that you might want to pursue.

PLACED

TASTY WAVE, 2019, 16.1 h., gr/rn m. Located at the Finger Lakes Race Track in Farmington, NY (near Rochester, NY).

As we walked across the backside to meet this appointment, we were cautioned that this mare has just raced a few days prior so she might be a bit “up”. So, we anticipated seeing a bit of a “spicy” girl. Instead, we met a very classy and dignified lady.

She was described to us as follows: very sound, quiet, sweet, gorgeous, and well liked in the barn. She’s good in her stall and loves to be allowed some time to hang out and graze on the lawn around the backside. We were told that to ride, she has a strong, forward gallop but no naughty behavior. She has spent down time at the farm and we were told that she likes to unwind when she is there. And that’s pretty much what we observed! We suspect that she is a girl who enjoys having a job, understands what is expected, and strives to excel. She a seasoned campaigner with a 7-6-7 record in her 45 starts. This is a testament to her work ethic, soundness, durability, functionally solid conformation, and sensible brain.

We found this pretty, gray girl to be a complete professional- she was quiet, cooperative, and posed easily for us. She is well put together- solid and correct with a long, nicely sloping shoulder, good bone, and has big, beautiful eyes. She jogged politely matching her handler’s pace displaying a glimpse of her athletic movement.

Tasty Wave is by the popular sire Central Banker out of a Latent Heat (Marias Mon!) mare. Her pedigree suggests she bred to be athletic and ammy-friendly. Now seven years old, her connections want to retire her while she is “still happy and sound” to set her up for success in her next career. If you love grays, and appreciate a good, hard-working mare then you should definitely check this one out. We think she is a delicious morsel!
