RUN A MARATHON WITH YOUR FACE! Conceptually, Mustaches for Kids® works like a charity marathon. Except you're running it with your face. By a lot.
For the fourth Buffalo winter in a row, a hardy group of brave souls will sacrifice their faces (and dignities) as Growers for Mustaches for Kids. Our goal is to use their facial follicular fortitude to raise at least $8,000 for a children's charity in western New York. Each Grower collects pledges from friends, co-workers, distant relatives, acquaintances and local merchants to sponsor their Swee
t 'Stache for the full month of January. Last year, with the aid of more than 30 growers and several fully-bearded boosters and "Mustache Molls', we raised over $8000 for The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Western New York. This year, we're hoping to top that. Charities are suffering terribly in the current economy and can use all the help they can get. Inject some humor into what is undoubtedly an otherwise grim winter month and participate in this ridiculous endeavor. Come on, think about it! How else can one do something utterly bizarre and yet totally socially acceptable at the same time? Growers are limited to the Magnum P.I./Smoky-and-the-Bandit 'corner-to-corner' mustache style preferred by motorcycle cops, firemen and little league coaches the world over. This is not a joke. Since its inception in 1999, hundreds of growers have joined Mustaches for Kids in Canada and the U.S. and have raised nearly one million dollars for children's charities. We believe in doing good and having a good time doing it. For the rules and more info, see mustachesforkids.org
