Soo close! I just need like 8 more sunny days

People have always been supportive, but it feels like the entire city is rooting me on now. People honking, waving from their windows, inquiring on my map progress. I’m definitely feeling the love, especially from the many people who have given me truly genuine heartfelt thank you’s these past couple of weeks. I didn’t realize I’d be touching so many people, but I’m really happy that I am and it feels incredible.

I only have the tattered map I work off of on me right now, the master is in the garage, so I’m not going to post a progress picture but this weather has been really good for me. This week I was able to finish all of the streets I hadn’t yet been to in North Buffalo, Parkside, Elmwood Village, Masten, Cold Springs, and Delavan-Grider. I don’t know that I’ll finish any neighborhoods today, I kinda spread myself thin today trying to be everywhere, but I’m in Kensington bailey right now trying to get to as many streets as I can in the next hour.

I don’t post this to get even more people writing nice things to me, rather it’s to thank you all for all of your support and kind words. You sure know how to make a guy feel great.

So I’m on this street and there are quite a few kids gathered around the bike. Some of them bought but 4 were left without anything so I asked them if I could buy them one. The only problem was that they didn’t speak much English and didn’t understand what I was asking and kept repeating ‘no money’. So I gave them each a dollar. You know, to buy an ice cream with.

They were happy with the dollar and walked away 😂😂😂

'Ice Cream Dude' on quest to hit every single street in Buffalo

Surprise welcome back to school ice cream day. They seem excited about it.

I’m pretty sure this is the most I’ve ever ice cream biked in a single day- and still have a couple of miles to go. It was a great day for the map. I was able to complete all of the streets I hadn’t yet been to in both Lovejoy & Kaisertown. You’d think I’d be exhausted, but I’m not really. Although I’m sure I’ll sleep well.

Here’s my progress so far. I logged 43 miles yesterday. There’s still a ton to do, but if I keep up that pace then I have no doubt I’ll hit my goal of ice cream biking down every inch of road in the city this season!

This guy walks up to me with a smile from ear to ear

“Young man, I wasn’t born here, we moved here from Birmingham in 1952 when I was 12 and for my very first job I used to ride one of these same exact bikes.”

We shared an ice cream sandwich, I made him hop on the bike for old times’ sake, and he told me all about the good ol days.
