Please consider giving to the Kentucky 4-H Foundation. With out this organization many of the programs that our local youth attend each year would not be possible. As an added bonus, donations given between now and the end year will be doubled.

How does 4-H INSPIRE you? Follow along over the coming weeks as we share stories from the Kentucky 4-H community as part of the Foundation's end-of-year campaign. By giving between now and the end of the year, you will inspire self-confidence, leadership, and mastery in youth. And, if that isn’t inspiration enough, gifts between now and the end of the year are eligible for a 1:1 MATCH. Give today to INSPIRE KENTUCKY KIDS!

ATTENTION! Scholarship Announcement!

We’re excited to host FARM CREDIT MID-AMERICA SCHOLARS in 2020. This program awards $5,000 in scholarship support over a two year period. It has built-in leadership and financial development workshops as well.

We’re looking for the next generation of leaders – leaders who want to make a difference in the field of agriculture - to be members of our 2020 cohort. The typical candidate is a rising sophomore or junior in the fall of 2020, pursuing a degree in agriculture from a university within our four state footprint (IN, OH, KY and TN). A minimum GPA of 3.0 is required.

We also offer $1,500 scholarships to students attending accredited two- or four-year colleges, universities or vocational/trade schools. Recipients of our CUSTOMER AGRICULTURAL SCHOLARSHIP must be children or grandchildren of Farm Credit Mid-America customers pursuing a career supporting the agricultural industry.

If you know someone who is majoring in agriculture and would be a good candidate for either of these scholarships, we would appreciate your sharing information with them. The application can be found on our website - click here. Deadline to apply is December 31, 2019.

Over the last decade, Farm Credit Mid-America has awarded more than $2 million in financial and educational support to deserving students pursuing careers that promote agriculture. We are very appreciative of your support to help us grow the impact this scholarship can make on the next generation of agricultural leaders.

I’m happy to visit with anyone who has questions about the scholarship program. They may email or call ([email protected]; 502-420-3756).

During this time of year it is important that we show gratitude to all the people who help make our community a great place to live. Each day in our community numerous people give the most important they can give, their time, to help make a difference. A special thanks to all of the community volunteers who make a difference. On behalf of all the Cumberland County 4-H members, THANK YOU. Happy thanksgiving!

Each year in November, 4-H members from across Kentucky participate in Issues Conference. This four day intensive leadership development conference is designed to teach young people how to address community issues. This year three 4-H members from Cumberland County participated.
