Burnsville Bobcats

The Bobcats start our playoff series tomorrow night against the Prior Lake Jays at Alimagnet Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM. The graphic below contains the dates, times, and locations of our series.

Per section rules, we will be charging admission for all section games. Cost of admission is $5 for adults and kids 18 and under are free.

The Bobcats set out Sunday night with the hope of earning the 1st seed in the section 2A playoffs beginning next week but were denied early on as the St Patrick Irish came to hit.

The Irish started hot by scoring two runs in the 1st inning, three in the 2nd, and five in the 3rd. To jump out to an early 10-0 lead after two and a half. Meanwhile the Bobcats offense couldn’t keep pace. A pair of one out singles in the first by Zach Andreasen and Blake Tritch did not lead to anything. The Kitties were retired in order in the second. The offense showed life in the third, a hit by a pitch, another single from Andreasen, and a 3 run home run from Blake Tritch closed the gap to 10-3. The gap was closed even further in the fifth when Tritch homered again following a single from John Santelman.

The Irish responded in the 6th with a run of their own. The Bobcats loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the 6th but were only able to push across one run to make it 11-6 after six innings. The Irish added two more runs in the 7th and three in the 9th. The Irish amassed 18 hits in the game and 16 runs for a 16-6 victory.

The Bobcats section portion of the regular season comes to a close with a 9-5 record which was good enough for 2nd place in the section as the Bobcats held tiebreaker advantages over Waconia and Chaska.

The Bobcats return to the field in Thursday night in a non section matchup with the Minnetonka Monarchs at Veterans Field in Minnetonka at 7:30 PM.

The Bobcats will face the Prior Lake Jays in a 5 game series to determine which of the two teams will head to the 2026 state tournament. The first game will be Wednesday, August 5th at Alimagnet Park at 7:30 PM. The full series schedule will be posted on this Friday.

Bobcats unable to rally from deficit, drop first game of the week to the Vic’s.

Burnsville - On a beautiful night at Alimagnet park, the Bobcats were unable to send the home fans happy as the Vic’s came to play and won the ballgame 5-2.

In the first, the Vic’s got a leadoff single against the Kitties starter, Blake Tritch, but a strike out and a double play ended the top of first inning not much longer after it began.

In the home half of the first, John Santelman doubled to lead off for the Cats and was moved to third on a ground out. Ben Meuser drove Santelman in with an RBI groundout, for the game’s first run.

In the second. The Vic’s threatened following a lead off double and a hit by a pitch, but a flyout, a runner caught stealing, and a strikeout prevented the Vic’s from making any noise.

In the third, the Bobcats fell behind 3-1 thanks to a 2 RBI double and an error that scored another run. The Vic’s added another run in the fourth to push the score to 4-1, the Vic’s would add another run in the 5th on a sacrifice fly.

Neither team had much going for the next few innings, but in the bottom of the 8th, Gavin Hartley doubled with one out and then Noah Juliar double with two outs to score Hartley and to bring the Kitties within three.

A lead off double in the 9th gave the Bobcats some life but they were unable to build on it as the next three hitters went down in order and send the Bobcats home with a 5-2 loss.

The Bobcats pitchers had trouble keeping the Vic’s off the bases early as the Vic’s lead off hitter reached in each of the first five innings. Offensively the Bobcats had 9 hits but they struck out 12 times and only walked once.

The Bobcats are now 16–6 overall and 9-3 in Section play with just two games remaining in the section schedule. They will welcome the Chaska Cubs to Alimagnet Park tonight for a 7:30 PM Matchup.

Bobcats win as pitching dominates the night against the Lakeville Loonatics.

Lakeville - The Bobcats travelled down Cedar Avenue to newly christened Belzer Stadium on Friday night for a matchup with the Lakeville Loonatics. The game was dominated by the Bobcats’ starter Nick Discher in the eventual 4-0 win.

The Kitties got on the board early as John Santelman walked to leadoff the game and then promptly stole second. He moved up to third on a flyout and subsequently scored following a sacrifice fly from Noah Juliar.

Discher issued a leadoff walk but set the Loonatics down in order after that.

In the second, Joe Robinson led off the inning by reaching on an error, a two out walk moved him to second base and then Santelman delivered a clutch, 2-out RBI single to score Robinson and give the Kitties a 2-0 lead after two.

Discher walked the lead off man in the second, but as he did in the first, he set the next three batters down in order.

In the top of the 3rd, Blake Tritch led off with a single for the Bobcats and advanced to second after the left fielder misplayed the ball. Noah Juliar then doubled over the left fielder’s head to score Tritch and give the Bobcats a 3-0 advantage. Juliar moved to 3rd on a groundout and then later scored on a passed ball to make the score 4-0. The Bobcats wouldn’t score the rest of the night but that was okay as the attention turned to the mound.

In the 3rd, Discher sat the Lakeville offense down in order including two strikeouts. In the 4th, the only baserunner reached on a hit by a pitch but Discher also delivered two more strikeouts in the inning. In the 5th, another 1, 2, 3 inning ensued. In the 6th, two more strikeouts and he set the Loonatics down in order for 6 innings of no hit ball. In the 7th, Discher got the leadoff hitter to strikeout, however the next batter hit a blooper to shallow left center that was just out of reach of the shortstop Robinson and it hit off his glove for the first hit of the night after 6 1/3 innings. Discher responded by striking out the last two hitters of the 7th to strike out the side and that would be the end of his night. His final line was 7 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 13 Ks.

Miles Jungroth came on in relief, making his first pitching appearance for the Bobcats. The first lefty pitcher in recent memory for the Kitties left quite an impression, striking out four over his two innings of work. Overall, the combined shutout for Discher and Jungroth saw them strike out 17 Loonatic hitters. Another dominating outing from the Bobcats pitching staff which led to their 5th straight win.

The Bobcats moved to 16-5 overall and return to Alimagnet tonight for a Section 2A matchup against the Victoria Vic’s. First pitch is scheduled for 7:30 PM, we hope to see you there!

Bobcats Win! - the Bobcats secured a 14-1 victory over the Badgers last night at Alimagnet park to remain in a tie for 1st place in section 2A. The electric crowd consisting of many Burnsville youth baseball players and parents made for a great night at the ballpark.

The Bobcats opened the game with a leadoff single from John Santelman but were unable to turn it into much of a threat. The bottom of the first saw the first two badger hitters reach base with singles before a controversial play led to the Bobcats first defensive triple play in recent history. A line drive to second base was called a catch, the ball was thrown to second to double off the runner, the runner from first had advanced to second and was tagged to end the inning.

The Bobcats scored 4 runs in the second. One on a wild pitch, another on a single from John Santelman, and the final two runs scored when the Badger right fielder misplayed a fly ball.

The Kitties extended their lead by two more in the 3rd by way of a two out RBI single by Joe Robinson which was followed by a balk that brought home the second run for a 6-0 lead after 2 1/2 innings.

On the mound, Nick Meuser got the start. The tall right hander settled in nicely after allowing the two singles in the 1st. Over five innings, Meuser allowed three hits and one run while striking out six.

The Bobcats continued to score runs in the 4th-7th innings highlighted by RBI singles from Ben Meuser, Tim Urlaub, and Noah Juliar. The other Bobcat runs came via fielders choice or Badger errors.

Kade Bowar pitched in relief for the Bobcats, he went two innings, allowing zero runs on 2 hits while striking out one.

The Bobcats moved to 9-2 in section play and 15-5 overall. They return to the diamond on Friday night against the Lakeville Loonatics at Jeff Belzer Field in Lakeville, first pitch is scheduled for 7 PM. The next Bobcat home game will be Monday, July 20th against the Victoria Vic’s.

The Bobcats hosted the Prior Lake Jays on Monday night at Alimagnet and added another tally in the win column behind stellar pitching and some clutch hitting late.

Prior Lake got on the board first against the Kitties starter, Brandon Hugo. A lead off walk followed by an RBI triple put the Jays up 1-0. However, Hugo was able to settle in and strand the runner at third.

In the bottom of the first, Burnsville was able to get runners to second and third due to a single from Zach Andreasen and a misplayed fly ball by the Jays outfield, but the Kitties were unable to capitalize and trailed 1-0 after one. The Bobcats struggled to get much offense going against the Jays starter, Charles Running through the first five innings.

In the bottom of the 6th, a two out error breathed life into the Bobcat offense. After Blake Tritch reached on the error, Noah Juliar walked. Tritch and Juliar moved up on a wild pitch and then Jack Drieman delivered a full count, 2 out single to left to tie the game at 1. Drieman stole second and then Joe Robinson stroked a single to center to bring home both Juliar and Drieman to give the Bobcats a 3-1 advantage after six.

The Jays threatened again in the 7th against Hugo, but after getting runners on first and second, Hugo was able to induce a pop up and a fly out to end the threat. Hugo finished the night with 7 IP, scattering 4 hits and striking out 5 while allowing only the first inning run.

In the bottom of the 7th, the Bobcats took advantage of another Jays error. Jonah Dawson reached on an error to open the inning and John Santelman followed that with a walk. Andreasen singled to bring home Dawson. Santelman and Andreasen ended up on second and third following a misplayed rundown. Gus McIntire pinch hit and continued to deliver in key situations with a single to right that brought home Santelman and Juliar and extended the lead to 6-1.

In the 8th it was a new inning but the same story for the Jays, Patrick Karlan reached on an error to start the inning. Andreasen provided another 2 out, RBI Double to bring home Karlan and push the lead to 7-1.

Luke Hansen and Brandon Dorshak combined to close out the game in the mound for the Kitties. Hansen struck out 1 and Dorshak struck out the side.

The win moved the Bobcats into a tie for first place with St. Patrick in the section 2A standings with just 4 section games to go. Overall the Kitties are 14-5 and have won three in a row and seven of their last ten.

The Bobcats return to Alimagnet tonight, this time as the road team, as they take on the Burnsville Badgers at 7:30 pm. It is Youth Baseball night at the Ballpark. In celebration of the night and National Hot Dog day, all Burnsville Youth baseball players wearing their jersey will receive a free hot dog meal courtesy of Burnsville Legion Baseball.
