That feeling when you get your horse back!!! After 2 abscesses and 2 weeks of stall rest, she’s feeling good and fresh 😅 !!

Look at her standing comfortably on all fours 🤩
Shout out to our farrier Eric Blevins to always give the best care to our crew 🙌🏻

From last Friday night at FRRC
Again, couldn’t help but buying a few!

Even if her eyes are closed at 2nd barrel 🤣
But look at her hair flying and Tomcat’s posture 😍
And honestly, the closed eyes is probably 100% trust at this point lol. Their connection in the arena is something special

Last night we hauled to Pueblo for a barrel race at an arena we never been at before. So that’s 2 new arenas for Tomcat in 2 days, both outdoor, both standard patterns. This race didn’t have a youth division but I still chose to go and enter in the adult open because we really need that kind of practice.
Because the truth is, I signed up for the Run at the Roses 🫣 do I know what I’m getting myself into? Absolutely not! Am I still going for it? Well do you know me?

But for the past month or so, I’ve been taking over the responsibilities of trainer as well as being the mom, horse owner, chauffeur, videographer, cheerleader, saddler, schedule planner, and the one making sure both the kid and the horse are fed, healthy, rested, and happy and that’s a bit nerve wrecking. But at the end of the day, I’ll always do whatever I can for my girl.

And after Sober Cowboys, I realized we simply weren’t ready for outdoor races yet. So before this run, I told Juliette: “I want a tight first barrel. That’s the goal tonight.”

And she did get closer.
Was it perfect? No.
Was it fast? No.
But she did exactly what I asked of her.

I’ll be honest… at first I was disappointed because the time was slower than usual. And even though she still won the 4D open and brought home a check, I didn’t immediately feel excited about it.

Not because I compare her to anyone else… but because I know what she’s capable of.

But sometimes growth doesn’t look like faster times. Sometimes growth is fixing the weak spot, even if it costs you speed for a while. And if we want to compete at bigger races, we have to be willing to build the foundation first.

So no, it wasn’t our fastest run. But maybe it was one of the most important ones yet ❤️

Always and forever proud of her!

At most barrel races we attend, there’s a photographer there. You can only imagine how many photos I’ve purchased of her doing what she loves. But even then, when I scroll through the galleries, some images just speak so loudly to me that I don’t mind spending money on an 89th photo of the same angle, same barrel, same girl.

In this case, on that first picture, I saw that smile… that was the relief she felt after a clean first barrel. It says it all.
She knew right then and there it was going to be a good one. Because first barrel is the one she and Tomcat have worked so hard on. It’s the reason we started using the “tie-up,” as we call it (the reins attached to the horn).

The second picture is of second barrel, which is always her tightest one, so I can’t resist buying a photo from that angle at every race.

And the last picture is the run home. Juliette’s happiness just shines through. She’s flying with her best friend and loving every second of it.

I spy my horse featured on this ad 🤩🦁

The Horse Profile feature inside Performance gives riders a place to truly track each horse individually. ✨

When you’re hauling and competing on multiple horses, it’s easy for the details to start running together over time.

Horse Profiles help keep everything organized in one place - runs, trends, progress, LTE, consistency, and insights specific to each horse.

So glad we’ve been able to practice more outdoor patterns lately getting ready for LBYA!

For those who don’t know, LBYA is a series of 8 rodeos held on Tuesday nights. It’s the association where Juliette earned the All Around Champion title in her age division last year, and Reserve Champion the year before. It’s local, feels like family, and is by far our favorite place to compete!

Contestants can enter up to 5 events, including barrel racing, pole bending, flags, keyhole, goat tying, trail course, and now that she’s moved up into an older division, she also has the option to compete in team roping or steer daubing… which she just might be trying in the next few weeks 🤩

Here’s her barrel event from last night!
Tomcat did amazing with a 19.06 which put her in 3rd place. She was 0.5 seconds away from 1st.

I have this app called
SADDL which I enter all her times into and I’ll be able to track her entire season. I hope we can tighten up 1st barrel a bit and shave off a couple mili seconds ✌️

Thanks for following our journey along!!

First LBYA of the season is in the books ✅

2026 might be a bit more intimidating for this girl as she has now move up to the next age division.
Being the youngest of a group is challenging in all the good ways and we are here for it!!
