Congratulations to coach Katie Stith and JSerra HS for winning the CIFSS Division 1 Championship!!!

And though the game ended on a two run home run, Hannah was the official winning run!!

Though the game is not decided, I hope all of you "Oldtimers" heard Helene and Larry screaming in excitement on Hannah's home run!!

I must add two outstanding achievements accomplished this year by relatives of the "Oldtimers" family. Great granddaughter of Helene and Larry Coor, Hannah Coor, a Senior at University of Nebraska, is headed to the Womens College World Series in Oklahoma later this week. And Granddaughter of Dave Stith, Katie Stith, as the head coach of JSerra High School in San Juan Capistrano, has lead her team to the CIF Southern Section Division 1 Finals later this week. Congratulations and good luck to both and if you know of others with similar opportunities, PLEASE let us all know!!

We have lost another part of the WGSL family. Barbara Caviezal was the wife of Joe Caviezel who was our President for two years in the 70's. Here are the words from Lisa Caviezel-Fields:

I took a much needed break from social media for Lent and wasn’t sure I wanted to get back on but also wanted to let friends and family know we are planning a service on May 1 to celebrate our beautiful mom.

I am always so sad when I get this information. Yesterday morning we lost Frank Sandello to complications from his stroke. Please keep the Sandello family in your prayers. Frank was yet another personal friend we have lost

When life gives you twists and turns…On 2/18, my father, Frank Sandello, suffered a stroke. I was with him when it happened. He has been at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage. He has suffered some setbacks, including pneumonia, C. diff, gastric bleed, and confusion. It has been a very emotional roller coaster, to say the least. Today, we were told he would need to be transferred to a LTAC (long-term acute care), and my anxiety went into overload, but after speaking to several people, I was told he will get the care he needs, including more physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. We thought we were going to lose him on Monday, but he pulled through. He may not be perfect to everyone, but he is my father. Once we find out which facility he will be at, I will let you know; it will be out of the Coachella Valley, as there isn't one locally. ��������
