For me, training isn't about force; it's about communication. With Asher, I use grooming gloves as positive reinforcement, rewarding even the smallest try. Every correct response earns a scratch he enjoys, helping him build confidence while learning that the answer is simply to search for the release.
In this session, we're working on yielding to the lightest pressure: moving the forehand, yielding the hindquarters, stepping forward and backward, giving at the poll, and learning to stay soft and attentive. These may seem like simple exercises, but they're the building blocks of a willing, respectful, and trusting partner.
The goal isn't perfectionāit's understanding. Every small release is another step toward a horse that wants to learn. These sessions are kept short, between 15 and 20 minutes, or until he loses interest.
