We are incredibly proud to announce that this class achieved an outstanding 80% pass rate — a true testament to their dedication and hard work!

Every late night, every challenge overcome, and every ounce of dedication has brought you to this well-deserved milestone. We couldn’t be prouder of the hard work, heart, and passion you’ve poured into this journey and we’re deeply grateful to have guided and supported you along the way.

Important note following IAED certification: Some states require a license after certification. Please take a moment to review your state’s veterinary practice act to ensure you are fully compliant with regulations.

Now that you’re officially certified and ready to build your own business, whether full time or part time, remember to hold yourself to the highest standards. Continue your education, take pride in every detail of your work, stay professional, and remain actively involved in the industry.

We’re always right here in your corner. If you ever need advice, support, or just a friendly voice, don’t hesitate to reach out. We can’t wait to see all of you partner with veterinarians and bring your dreams to life. The future of the equine industry is getting bigger and brighter!

We are deeply grateful to our dedicated IAED examiners this semester, Wyatt Sims and Richard Zmayefski, who poured their time, expertise, and careful attention into grading every certification test horse. Your unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards ensures that every certified equine dental practitioner upholds the integrity and quality the profession deserves.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to Wayne Needham and Robert Crook for generously serving as proctors. Your guidance, professionalism, and steady presence created a supportive environment that helped our candidates shine.

We also want to send a special note to Marilyn Hobbs, our esteemed IAED representative and stewardess. While she was unable to join us this semester, we deeply appreciate her continued dedication, leadership, and many valuable contributions to the IAED and our program. We missed her presence and look forward to having her with us again soon.

It is an incredible honor for our team to represent the International Association of Equine Dentistry (IAED) and to guide the next generation of skilled equine dental professionals. Watching so many talented students rise to the challenge, push through rigorous training, and achieve IAED Certification fills us with pride and inspiration.

Each new certified practitioner represents not just personal accomplishment, but a brighter future for equine health and welfare. Together, we are strengthening our industry, elevating standards of care, and ensuring horses receive the expert dental attention they need to thrive. We celebrate every success and look forward to continuing this meaningful journey with passion, excellence, and unwavering dedication.

After finishing their IAED practical exam, these certification candidates open up about what they’re really feeling and thinking as they walk their own Green Mile.

The mix of excitement, nerves, self-doubt, relief, and everything in between is incredibly relatable for anyone who has gone through the high-stakes IAED certification process in equine dentistry.

Anyone who’s survived the wait — tell us in the comments: what thoughts were running through your mind?

IAED certification candidate, Alex Mills sharing her future goals following certification!

In our profession, one of the most valuable assets we can cultivate is a deep, collaborative relationship with equine veterinarians. This isn’t about occasional referrals—it’s an ongoing partnership built on trust, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to overall equine oral health. When we invest time in truly knowing our veterinarians and allowing them to know us—our techniques, our observations, and our standards of care—we create a foundation that strengthens our entire practice.

Equine dental providers are the frontline providers, delivering consistent prophylactic care that keeps horses comfortable and performing at their best. We maintain routine dental balance, manage sharp points, and address minor imbalances before they escalate. Yet the most powerful outcomes happen when we work hand-in-hand with veterinarians, who provide the expert guidance, advanced diagnostics, and medical partnership essential for referral cases. This collaborative model creates seamless care: we identify subtle changes early, while our veterinary partners bring systemic evaluation, imaging, and specialized treatment when needed.

We are primarily trained to spot premature issues—those small warning signs that might otherwise go unnoticed—long before they reach the point of no return. By nurturing strong relationships with veterinarians, we build reliable referral pathways that allow us to catch problems at their earliest, most treatable stages. Regular communication means faster case handoffs, better record continuity, and integrated care plans that elevate outcomes for every horse we touch.

The true magic happens when this relationship matures into a genuine team dynamic. We and our veterinary partners become true collaborators in excellence—celebrating successful cases together and navigating challenges with unified purpose.

Aspiring IAED certifier, Laney Schipper.

Pressure is a privilege, not a prison.

You feel it because you care. Because you’re stepping into something bigger than your comfort zone. That weight on your chest, the racing thoughts, the fear of falling short—it’s not a sign you’re weak. It’s proof you’re playing at a higher level. The people who never feel pressure are the ones who never risk anything meaningful.

Stay calm, confident, collected, and don’t let the pressure of the test get to you!
