Confidence comes from preparation.
Kobe was never afraid of the big shot because he had already taken that shot thousands of times. That is the lesson. Real confidence is not fake. It is not loud. It is built through reps, preparation, and doing the work when nobody is cheering.
That is something we coach at The Standard.
Practice is supposed to challenge you. We are going to get after it. We are going to compete. We are going to make mistakes, learn from them, and come back better because of it.
Then when game day comes, our athletes can play fast, play free, fly around, make plays, and have fun because they know they prepared for the moment.
Back to school means back to routines, back to structure, and back to work. I loved seeing so many first day of school pictures from our athletes this week. And shoutout to the homeschool crew still getting to sleep in a little longer 😂
Can’t wait to get back after it.
Prep today. Lead tomorrow.
Get Better Every Day.

Teams get better together.
The best teams aren’t always the most talented. They’re the ones that choose each other every single day.
A great teammate does more than make plays. They encourage others. They celebrate wins that aren’t theirs. They stay connected when things get hard. They talk to their teammates, not about them.
That’s what builds trust. That’s what builds confidence. That’s what builds great teams.
The teams that fight for each other, work for each other, and grow together are the teams that find success together.
At The Standard, we’re not just developing better football players. We’re developing teammates, leaders, and young people who make everyone around them better.
Great teammates raise the room.
Leave every practice, every game, and every conversation having made someone else better.
Because when you make the people around you better, everyone wins.
🏈 Get Better Every Day.
⭐ One Team. One Standard.

One of my favorite moments as a coach isn’t when an athlete gets it right. It’s what happens after they get it wrong.
We don’t coach mistakes.
We coach the next rep.
Mistakes are part of learning. They’re not something to be embarrassed about.
If one athlete makes a mistake, there’s a good chance someone else was about to make the same one.
So we stop.
We coach the rep.
We fix it.
Then we move on.
No yelling.
No shame.
No making an athlete feel small.
Just honest coaching, accountability, and another chance to grow.
One of the principles we teach at The Standard is simple:
Own It. Fix It.
Tell the truth.
Own the mistake.
Fix the next rep.
I remind our athletes all the time:
Give yourself the same grace you’d give a teammate.
Learn from it.
Forgive yourself.
Then step into the next rep with confidence.
Because football is simply the classroom.
We’re really teaching integrity, grit, accountability, and the courage to keep going when things don’t go your way.
Mistakes are part of the game.
Integrity is choosing to own them.
Growth is choosing to learn from them.
That’s how confidence is built.
That’s The Standard.
Keep Setting The Standard. ❤️🤍💙

Not every athlete will play at the next level.
But every athlete deserves someone who believes in them.
That’s why The Standard exists.
Whether your athlete is picking up a football for the first time or has years of experience, they have a place here.
We’re here to develop the whole athlete by teaching the game the right way while building confidence, character, leadership, and resilience along the way.
Our goal isn’t just to create better football players. It’s to help young people become the best version of themselves while doing our part to grow the game of flag football in our community.
If an athlete leaves our field with more confidence than when they arrived, we’ve done our job.
This is The Standard.
Get Better Every Day.
