CrossFit is a core strength and conditioning program. We have designed our program to elicit as broad an adaptational response as possible. CrossFit is not a specialized fitness program but a deliberate attempt to optimize physical competence in each of ten recognized fitness domains. They are Cardiovascular and Respiratory endurance, Stamina, Strength, Flexibility, Power, Speed, Coordination, Agility, Balance, and Accuracy. The CrossFit Program was developed to enhance an individual’s competency at all physical tasks. Our athletes are trained to perform successfully at multiple, diverse, and randomized physical challenges. Absolutely anyone from grandparents to elite athletes! Anyone who wants to perform acts of daily living with healthy body movements and get into great shape while doing it! We have a true sense of community with an absolutely fun and supportive group of people who all workout together and urge each other on daily. What we offer at Carroll CrossFit:
Everyone starts with a Fundamentals Class. This includes 6 one on one half our personal training sessions:
- 7 point fitness assessment to give a baseline of starting fitness. These are performed free at the end of each quarter.
- 4 technique sessions learning most of the basic movements of CrossFit that will be used in class
- A nutrition session learning the basics of the Zone nutrition program.

We have a FREE rivalry workout tomorrow. It’s time for the CyHawk showdown workout. Show up in your Hawkeye or Iowa State gear and we will see who is represented the most in which team Rayne supreme and tomorrow’s free workout.

I still have two spots left in each class if you have a kindergarten through third grader that you want to get signed up. Coordination, agility, speed and all the basic body weight movements to help them with their extracurricular activities. Classes start this week.

How long have you been doing Crossfit?
Off and on for 12 years

What were you most scared/nervous about when you first started?
It had been a while since I had lifted weights so that was intimidating.

What keeps you coming back?
I liked that the workouts are intense, but short enough that I can do them over my lunch hour.

What goals or personal records have you achieved?
I’ve been able to build strength and lift weights safely while staying injury free.

What would you say is your least favorite exercise?
Definitely Burpee‘s!

What is your most favorite movement?
The GHD situps.

What words of wisdom would you say to somebody who’s interested in trying out CrossFit?
Just give it a try. It’s not as scary as you think and everyone in class is very encouraging.

I had a blast coaching these kids this summer. (I forgot to take a picture of the Littles ) And they did so good. Everybody made big progress and hopefully they had a little bit of fun along the way. The white shirts came out victorious on Games day today but everybody competed. Good luck in school kiddos.

The 6:30 AM crew repeated as champions for Fill the gym Friday. Want to join them? Come into this Friday’s class for a free. If there’s movements you don’t know, there’s modifications I can give you. Even if you’re rehabilitating a back, me, etc.. I can modify for that and give you rehab based exercises to get you back to doing all the movements you want to be able to do at home. Does 6:30 AM not work for you. There are multiple class times throughout the day that you can join. Message me for details .
