Montpelier results 08/10/26: Felt great to be back at the track after engine issues and multiple rain-outs. Car fired right off and seemed to have the "zip" back in the motor that's been missing. Qualified 3rd quick in our group which put us on the front row of the heat race. Fun fact: we qualifyied quicker than 14 of the sprint cars!

Heat race: Track really slicked off and holding ground in a transfer spot for the first half until another car spun us out mid corner which resulted in a slow roll over. Got car upright and fired off but slick track and bent steering made it difficult to move up.

Last chance race, started 8th and finished 4th advancing on to the feature.

Then I guessed wrong. Starting back in the feature was a good opportunity to throw a set-up in the car to try to get a better grip on the slick track. There were 2 modified features and a sprint car feature ahead of us. This pushed the start of our feature to nearly 1 am. The cooler temperatures and high humidity actually made the track a little tacky- not slick. Typically this doesnt happen in early August.

So the car wasn't great but not as bad as it should have been. Really wasn't moving up but not falling back either. Under a late race caution, the motor reached 240 degrees so called it a night 🌙. Loaded up and headed home in some pretty heavy fog in places.

Up next? Not sure.... probably won't make Lawrenceburg in a couple weeks as that is right on top of drivers wife due date. Definitely would like to run the final race at Montpelier , but driver has prior commitment on that date. So weighing my options- in which one option is maybe dragging out my firesuit and helmet again.

Lets try this again (hopefully). This Saturday, we will be racing at Montpelier Motor Montpelier Speedway by The Milkman. One of my favorite tracks and close to home! We will continue to monitor the weekend weather and pass along any updates, Optimistic we can get this show in!

The USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets return to Montpelier Speedway by The Milkman this Saturday with the BOSS Sprints and Modifieds for ‘Back to School’ Night.

Tonight's races are canceled. Considering the weather forecast, probably the right call. Just finished loading everything and lost 5 # in sweat. The joys of racing!

Unfortunately, we’re canceling tonight’s event. There is a significant chance of rain throughout the hours of tonight’s program at Montpelier Speedway.

We now look ahead to the August 8th Back to School Night and Terry Hull Memorial with UMP Modified, Non Wing Sprint Cars and USAC Midwest Thunder Midgets.

Plan is to race at Montpelier Speedway by The Milkman this Saturday July 18th after missing a few shows getting the engine fixed. If all goes well, planning on being back at Montpelier August 8th and again October 3rd. The few races highlighted in blue are "maybe" events at this time. Friday night shows more than an hour away are tough to get to with work commitments unfortunately

Replaced everything mechanically possible, plugs, injectors, coil packs Friday night at Limaland and engine still was not running right.

After a good wash early Saturday morning, I did a more in depth investigation and found cylinder #2 did not have any compression. Sounded like it was blowing past the intake valve so no other choice at this time than to pull the engine and see what the diagnosis is.

Very frustrating to say the least.

Looking ahead the next few weeks, game plan is to race at Limaland motorsports Park this Friday night June 12th. If all goes well, then we hope to be at Waynesfield Raceway for a special Ohio Sprint Speedweek show on Thursday June 18th which will be televised on Flo-Racing.

Loaded everything last night, but undecided if I wanted to run due to weather. Guess this makes that decision easier now.
