Tonight, we put another one into the Hall of Fame for all time. 2x National Long Jump Champion, 6x All-American, even in the program’s transition to D1 she’s still top-2 in school history—and she did that 20 years ago. She was the first National Champion we coached. From walk-on, to legend… Foluso Makinde Adepitan; Omaha Mavericks Hall of Famer! Congratulations, dear Folu! We couldn’t be more proud. You are the roots of this family tree! (Pictured here with our equally amazing Omaha U. Jump Squad teammate, Taira Baker Masek)

I need a poster of this photo. She says it was just a cool pose and a cool outfit. What I see is a complete story told in a captured moment because of the hidden powerful meaning; striking a triple jump pose, at a most sacred cultural center of her nation, in front of the quintessentially massive Mexican flag, in perfectly matching adidas gear with cultural influence—all as the reigning National Champion. It still makes me emotional because I saw the mountain she had to climb to get here. I don’t care if it never happened again, this is part of her personal and national history books, NOW & FOREVER… La Reina Azteca!!! 🥰

Well, it didn’t work out the way that we planned… it worked out even better!!! No. 19 in your programs, no. 1 in our hearts, a Warrior legend, a soon-to-be Dartmouth know-it-all, and a Vivid Yellow for life… at one time my athlete, my beloved niece forever ❤️🖤 / 💚🤍 / 💛💛

Not even gonna hide it… I’d be perfectly okay with that uniform on her for the next four years. Big thanks to Coach Petros, Coach Javonie and the Fighting Illini Track & Field staff for taking good care of Lademi on her visit. You set a high bar!

We gave it our best. It takes a lot to compete at 40+, but it’s a whole different thing halfway around the world… with a 6 year old in tow. The kid was a trooper, we had an amazing time and we rep’ed our squad and community as best we can. Top-12 and a massive PR for me, but my leg injury cut my dream of a long jump final short. Tonya was a finalist in 3 events in her first Worlds ever! Couldn’t be more proud of her.

Huge thanks to our squad and training camp, Tachyon Athletik. We tried to make you proud. Thanks to the organizers and Team USA management, it really does help to have resources overseas. Lastly, I’d like to lovingly challenge USATF Nebraska to support Masters athletics more. Huge thanks to Coach Derek Fye for the event he puts on to get us ready for this. We are not just stragglers to the youth. We need meets, support, exposure… is strong and we are out here, never shying away when someone asks where we are from; Omaha, Nebraska! And we need our state association to join the party. Great season everyone! starts now.
