Sometimes that’s all it takes to turn someone’s day around. Be nice and be the reason someone else smiles.

Lab nurses always seem to be in a good mood when I sit down for them.
-
They were able to hit a vein today they haven’t in a long time. I’ll take that as a win.

Love. This is what it looks like. It’s everything I need and more than I deserve. Happy Anniversary, babe! I love you.

Number 2 killer in America behind hear disease. You’d be hard pressed to find someone that hasn’t had a friend or love one die from cancer.

F**k cancer.

Fiddled with editing this so I could crop out the nurses faces. Amy zoomed out to show the nurse up on her tip toes to get more leverage. And that was also after lowering the table. -
This was my 2nd BMB with the drill and normally they don’t have too many residual effects but this one I felt for a couple days afterwards.

Cardio pre-workout. I’ve just found I won’t do it otherwise. My training is currently to get healthier anyway, so might as well optimize my motivation.

I don’t think there’s any exercise I hate more than bent over rows. Probably a good reminder that I need to be doing them.

Instead of complaining about how weak I am, I could be grateful how strong I remain… but I’m not. I am grateful to not be any weaker but I’m not content being where I am. Big difference.

How we spent the weekend. My first time out of town in a year or so.

Every book is a learning experience if you know what you’re looking for.

Ordinarily I’d do these without the bench but figured with my hip still a little sore from the biopsy, some support might be a good thing.

Lots to do today. Got blood work and bone marrow biopsy. Granted the results won’t be back until next week but it’s a step.

Another day and another session. Small wins here and there. I miss being strong but I’ll take this over being in the hospital.

New year, new sh*t.
-
Or something like that.
-
Still adding fluff to training days to help with building endurance. There’s just some days I ain’t got the get up and go and that pisses me off.
-
One day at a time. I’ll keep whittling away at it.

Landmine rotations. “Easy” core work that I can toss in between other exercises. Working on building longer circuits to build some cardio-ish stuff.

Have you ever wondered how you apply a topical steroid to your GI tract? 👀
-
Thankfully it’s just a liquid you swallow but it got you thinking.
-
Over the past couple of weeks they drastically lowered my anti-rejection meds. As such, I developed some GI issues. This led to me needing 2 different steroids to deal with the issues. It looks like they’re working and I’m feeling a bit better.

Little bit of bruising from getting my line out. I honestly thought there would have been more based on how difficult it was to get it out. Got a nice little hole that’ll probably leave me with a little scar as a reminder (as if I’d need one haha!).

More “wait and see” bullsh*t. With the results of my chimerism only showing a small improvement, my team has opted to lower my GvHD medication and start to allow the graft more freedom to roam and kill. I have to be watchful for negative side effects and they’ve sent more blood work off for additional tests. We’re a month out from Day +100 and a BMB but it could happen earlier if they need more information on how to proceed. Just to got to wait.

I’m still in an endurance block and building back my base. My hemoglobin has come back up so I don’t feel as much like a fat out of shape powerlifter (haha!) as I did when I first got out of the hospital. I also am only pushing smaller movements more aggressively. Exercises like squats and deads are still present but at an embarrassingly light scale as they can make me feel like sh*t for days.
-
Pushing failure on back days is as aggressive as I’m getting currently.

Books and books and books.
These are the most recent books I’ve read.
-
The Dragon Reborn:
I’ve read and reread this series. Easy read to get a distraction.
-
The Old Man and The Sea
I’m sorry to say I’d never read this but am glad I finally did. Absolutely amazing writing. Hemingway was an artist.
-
Indistractable:
Great book for learning how to not get distracted written by someone who studied on how to best keep you attached to your phone.
-
All Things Shiny
Good book on philosophy and the analogies that one will find in some of the western classics.
-
Will
I’ve never been a huge Will Smith but I do enjoy Mark Manson’s writing. This book is a good example of Manson’s Subtle Art of Not Giving A F*ck. Will did some amazing things but at a great expense to his true values. And it took a life time for him to realize it.

day +49
-
Clinic day. Just routine blood work and NP visit. I’m starting to have more decent episodes than bad. While I still don’t feel “good”. It’s this constant feel of slogging through muddy water. Slow and tough going. I just haven’t got that pep back. I can last longer but I’m just slow.
-
One day at a time.

Perceptions:
Interesting enough my tastes of things have changed. It’s dulled somewhat since the transplant but still definitely different. Salty foods are really weird, almost metallic. Sweet treats are too much. Water is just different. There’s a few of these transplant symptoms that I have/am experiencing. Just weird to have something that you thought was a pretty static thing change on you.

“On this particular night, I was begging for pain meds. The nurses were immediately concerned because I wasn’t in the habit of asking for pain meds. “
-
I’ve been fortunate to have not lived through a tremendous amount of pain. This made me appreciate what some mean when they’re going through hell that it’s just one day at a time.
