Another week on the road. Another week with Banana Ball. Another week of growth. This time in the wonderful and gorgeous city of Sioux Falls, SD.

The Indianapolis Clowns hosted the Firefighters and I was back on the field as A2, micing up players, coaches (sometimes both at once) and two sideline reporters. Of course, setting up the booth as well.

It was once again a pleasure to be a part of the traveling joy of Banana Ball. The professional growth that’s coming, getting more comfortable with new aspects of the job, is a bonus.

Thanks to Sioux Falls for being a delightful host. As far as Banana Ball? I’ve got one more go for the season. I’ll see you in a few weeks in Savannah.

It’s wonderful when your fun job really shows to be something so much bigger than just that. It’s a feeling I was able to grab last week in Billings, MT as I traveled with the Banana Ball team to help with audio as the Firefighters took on the Party Animals.

My second taste of Banana Ball, my first time traveling, and it was to a city that was so thrilled to have such an event there, in person, for them. A common chorus would echo, “Nothing like this ever comes here.” It did, and they showed their love.

It was great to be back in the dugout for Banana Ball and wonderful to be in the rotation for such a fun, unique experience. With a few more bookings under my belt, I look forward to each show getting better.

I’d done wrestling. I’d done boxing. Now I could cross another off the list as I went to Charlotte to help set up and work audio for the Professional Fighters League Charlotte event.

Serving as A2 to set up booth, mic up refs and special guests it was an eventful two days in the Queen City as I marked another sport off of the list.

With a new found respect for mixed martial arts and more reps, getting deeper in the weeds rolling as an A2, it was a fun and invaluable experience. Hoping to be back ringside soon!

There’s always a show you hear about a just know “I’m going to work that one day.” And hey, I finally got that call this week.

While it was just for one day, I was asked to head to Rock Hill and be the set and first show day A2 for the ACL World Championships.

In charge of booth set up, nat mics and the mics under the boards I got the basics of the show up and running.

From there I worked with the RF A2 to mic up the co****le players in game, (is it a co****le game? A match?) quickly swapping out mics and packs between commercial breaks.

This year it was just one day, a necessary fill in for a moment. Hopefully it means I can hang out with my friends a bit longer next year.

Sometimes the live production industry can truly take it all out of you. The key is having an escape, a hobby, something to take you away for a bit.

This year, for me, it’s become cooking. Roughly every week since Christmas I’ve tried making some new dish or side for the menu.

I’ve found it’s a way to continue a creative outlet plus a reprieve from the usual crafty that we’re all thankful for but can become a little rough.

My most recent creation was for the 4th, a wonderful shrimp roll. Among the other creations this year I’ve also added eggs Benedict, risotto (which definitely teaches patience), mushroom ragu over polenta with pork belly and oven roasted broccolini, scratch made lasagna, roasted pork belly ramen and finally focaccia as we foray in to baking.

What’s your get away when you’re not on site?

Add another sport to the list. Finally, I was able to take part in this year’s Battle on the Bricks () at TD Arena in downtown Charleston.

In the fourth annual installment, I made my way behind the 3Play to put together highlights between bouts, roll outs for the end of the broadcast and of course packages of the crazy TKOs we didn’t see coming.

All of this, plus an appearance by the Wu Tang Klan, it was a wild night four years in the making for me.

Next week voters go back to the ballot box to determine the final candidates for the role of South Carolina’s governor after a run off for both parties was announced.

As a result I made my way up to Conway, SC and the campus of Coastal Carolina to run A2 for a second GOP gubernatorial debate, this time between the final two candidates.

Come November South Carolina will elect a new governor, one way or another. It’s a humbling feeling knowing in some way, shape, or form I was a part of this process not once, but twice.

For the third year in a row I was asked to go up to Cary, NC and the USA Baseball Training Complex to produce the NCAA Division II Championships.

After three years there’s always a question of “How can we top last year?” when we incorporated drone footage in to opens and scenics.

This year we found a way to level up by adding on camera hits for talent. Something small but impactful toward the broadcast and the experience for fans on NCAA.com.

The quest begins to year four and growth in 2027.

Last week I had the distinct honor of being part in welcoming the next wave of leadership in to the nation when I directed the graduations from .

From the commissioning of officers, the movement of cadets, or the honoring of masters and other degrees I was behind the switcher in house and on the live stream.

Having the added bonus of knowing some grads from the beginning of their journey, it was a unique experience to be a small part of the conclusion of a defining era in their lives.

Class of 2026, go make the world a better place.

In freelancing, some weeks really take it out of you. Last week was a 60 hour week. Including directing multiple minor league baseball games, helping set and run a corporate event in downtown Charleston with a full 24 hours of work over two days, to running Cam 1 at the Charleston Battery (including last minute body swaps as rain had harmed the box lens).

The key to surviving such weeks is rest and recooperation. But with the freelance mindset that can be hard. What do you do to shut down after a week of go go go?
