The "regular" Xterra season is now over. I was fortunate to be the Xterra Southeast Regional Champion for my age group. Over the past 6 weeks I have been preparing for Nationals on September 21 in Ogden, Utah with a new training plan. I don't think I have trained with this intensity in a long time. Special thanks to my wife Kelley for putting up with me being tired and cranky.

Finally back from injury. Took the age group win at Xterra Panther Creek. Time to get serious for Xterra Nationals and Worlds. Guess some mountain trips are coming my way!

Rob Corbett pulled off an amazing feat yesterday. He made the podium at the Tree Shaker 8-hour mountain bike race The course should really be called Bone Shaker. I rode it today with Marcus Barton. It is nothing but big nasty roots. A tough course for 1.5 hours! If you want to test your skills on it, check out Anne Springs near Fort Mill, SC. Nice work Rob and good luck with recovery!

Congrats to SBMC athlete Jason Silvers for his podium spot at Bump and Grind this past weekend. After only one year on the mountain bike, he knocks out a third place at the biggest MB race in the Southeast in the competitive 20-29 Cat 2 division!

After injuring my foot on April 6th at the Paris Mountain Triathlon and trying to self-diagnose and self-treat, I finally went to see an orthopedic surgeon. Turns out I have a metatarsal neuroma and sub-taler synovitis. The options were 1) conservative treatment for weeks (which meant to continue NOT running in the middle of race season) or 2) a corticosteroid injection. I opted for the injection. What I did not know is how painful it is to have a needle poked from the top of your foot to what felt like the bottom of my foot. No pain-No gain. I hope like heck this works and I am back running in time for Tsali in two weeks!

Congrats to Stick Boy athletes who competed in the Xterra Southeast Championship today. Jason Silvers, Lila Bowers, Ricky Roberts, and Angie Roberts all had outstanding races. Also want to congratulate Marcus Barton and Mark Woody for podium finishes as well as Herbie Reeves for a solid performance in our age group.
