It was a beautiful day to support our local Parkinson's association @parkinsonscarolinas at the Move it! Walk.

We're excited to see how we can contribute to the Parkinson's community health and wellness goals with our PWR!Moves training.

What are the PWR!Moves?

PWR!Moves are the core of our PD-specific functional exercise and physical therapy programs. The Basic 4 PWR!Moves are designed to each target a skill known to deteriorate in people with Parkinson disease, which often lead to loss of mobility and function. The PWR!Moves can be practiced in multiple positions, made progressively more physically and cognitively challenging, and be used differently to target each person’s unique symptoms individually.

PWR!Moves help you mitigate symptoms and rebuild functionality, no matter how you incorporate them into your life.  They're beneficial in stand-alone group exercise classes, integrated into your daily activities and routines (such as activities of daily living, recreation, sports, and hobbies), in physical and exercise therapy settings.

Making exercise and rehab fun is what it's all about!

Some exercise can be boring and repetitive. But it doesn’t have to be. We like to switch it up and always try new things.

How do you make exercising fun?

We're super excited to offer access to a functional electrical stimulation(FES) bike AT OUR GYM! Welcome home Myolyn bike!

Thank you @rewalk_robotics @gatorot96 for educated us on our training day!

Utilize technology in functional electric stimulation to help best engage the correct muscles for movement and strength training!

Here we have paired @bionessrehab 's L300 with our squat exercises. We're triggering the stimulation with the use of our client Bioness app on his phone for ideal timing for muscle engagement, strengthening and squat form.

L300 Go is a functional electrical stimulation (FES) system capable of producing measurable mobility improvements for patients with foot drop and/or knee instability caused by an upper motor neuron disease or injury such as:
🔸️Stroke
🔸️Multiple Sclerosis
🔸️Cerebral Palsy
🔸️Traumatic Brain Injury
🔸️Incomplete Spinal Cord Injury

01/06/2022

We had an awesome visit by Hannah with Bioness today! We looked to see what assistive technology and rehab tools that our clients could utilize in their paralysis recovery!

The H200 Wireless System from Bioness provides low-level electrical stimulation to activate the nerves and muscles of the hand enabling the ability to regain Hand Mobility and Purpose.

The H200 Wireless Hand Rehabilitation System supports the wrist in a functioning position, allowing the fingers and thumb to move efficiently while reaching, grasping and pinching. This may allow someone to regain hand function and get back to performing ordinary and essential activities of daily living.

These are intended to:

-Increase hand function
-Increase or maintain hand range of motion
-Reduce muscle spasms
-Prevent muscle loss
-Reeducate muscles
-Increase blood circulation

01/05/2022

Trust the process, stick to your goals, and keep showing up!

THEN: January 2021 -fulltime power wheelchair, working on standing
NOW: January 2022 - walking with a walker and cane!

Keep going!

Isometric exercises, also known as static strength training, are contractions of a particular muscle for an extended period of time. Simply put, an isometric exercise is one that involves muscle engagement without movement.

Pick one position and hold it... here we're focusing on standing endurance, posture and body awareness, and maintaining symmetry.
