🏆 Congratulations to Jason Marshal from SC for winning the Barber National Tournament of Middle School Champions! 🏆

The Barber is an invitational tournament for the middle school champions of each state. Jason won with 5 out of 6 points and no losses!

His performance also put him over 2200 for the first time, securing his National Master title at 13 years old! 🎉

Jason is a regular at the Center for our weekly and major tournaments. Be sure to congratulate him when you see him! 👏 🤩

Congratulations to FM James Chirilov, the winner of the 2026 Charlotte Summer Open! This is Chirilov's second CCC tournament win this year, having won the Spring SE FIDE in March.

Chirilov tied for first with GM Sergey Erenberg and GM Vladimir Georgiev but took home the winner's plaque on cumulative tiebreak!

🏆 Congratulations to NM Ethan Sheehan for winning the Charlotte Summer Open Blitz tournament last night!

🤩 You may remember Ethan from his Cinderella Sweep at the Naroditsky Memorial Rapid and Blitz, and he continued his Blitz streak this weekend with 5.5/6 points!

Congratulations to CCC student Chase Bellamy for becoming our latest National Master!

Since October, we've had three students hit the 2200 threshold: Steve Alappatt, Alexander Chu, and now Chase!

The CCC not only provides instruction but also the environment to foster excellence. With frequent tournaments and a competitive-yet-supportive atmosphere, students who put in the hard work have the opportunity to succeed. We're so proud to see their accomplishments!
