Our Pre Girls Academy program had the opportunity to participate in multiple experiences at the Carolina Ascent FC home opener over the weekend!

Our players took the field for the opening ceremony and helped hold the American flag during the national anthem. 🇺🇸

Following the match, everyone had the opportunity to meet and get autographs from their favorite professional women’s soccer players! ✍️

Our boys and girls Regional Academy and State programs put in the work tonight, pushing each other to get better, building their fitness, and getting one step closer to getting into full swing with league play. 👏

The coaching journey continues! 📈⚽ - Congratulations to Independence Soccer Club Tega Cay Technical Staff member Jovanie Flores on earning his D License! 👏

Jovanie joined Independence two years ago, beginning his journey as a volunteer Recreation coach for his son’s team. Utilizing the club’s coaching support system, he participated in coaching clinics and continued to expand his experience, eventually assisting with our Futsal program, coaching Junior Academy, serving as an On Field Coordinator, and now coaching our Tega Cay Youth Academy players.

In addition, Jovanie serves as an Assistant Coach for the Johnson & Wales University Charlotte Men’s Soccer program (NCAA DIII), where he assists with player development, day-to-day operations, and recruitment.

“Earning my USSF D License is an exciting milestone in my coaching journey. I have had the privilege of helping develop some incredibly talented young athletes, and I view every day on the pitch as an opportunity to learn and adapt. I look forward to bringing these insights to our teams to help them grow within a positive, high-energy environment.”

Jovanie, it has been a pleasure watching your growth from a volunteer Recreation coach to now impacting players at multiple levels of the game. Your journey is a great example of how anyone with a passion for the game can get involved in coaching and continue to grow.

Congratulations to Bennett Sanchez and Lily Bowers as they have been named the Novant Health Players of the Month for August! 🎉

“Bennett has been a great example for players at the highest level of competition within our club. He worked hard over the summer break, which helped him not skip a beat during preseason. Heading into the new season, his preparation has been terrific, scoring high on fitness tests and pushing his teammates with his work rate.”
