Mestre Neguinho and Professora Risadinha co-founded Upstate Capoeira in June 2015 in the Upstate region of South Carolina (Spartanburg and Greenville). Day 1 : Upstate Capoeira Summer Camp at After School Plus was a success! Bringing this rich and vibrant African Brazilian culture to the youth gives us such joy. These sorts of partnerships with community leaders like After School Plus is of vital importance to our mission and we are grateful for the opportunity to share this piece of living history and cultural legacy.
Also very grateful for our assistants Minhoquinha and Cobrinha.
We at Upstate Capoeira are no longer a part of the group Cordão de Ouro. It was a very rich experience but for professional and ethical reasons, Mestre Fuinha and therefore Mestre Neguinho and Professora Risadinha also are leaving. Our friendships, old and new, continue despite this change in trajectory. Stay safe, there is still a pandemic out there.

We are humbled and honored to be able to share capoeira during this time of great uncertainty.
Today our class was joined from friends from 4 states and 2 provinces in Canada. If you’d like to join us, all are welcome. Sliding scale donations are accepted but no one is turned away. Download Zoom and bora treinar.

Greetings - given our concerns to the public health and well being of our community in regards to covid19, we are going to provide classes online on Zoom through March. This offering is provided by link only. It is for our members. If you are not a member but in isolation and still would like to train, DM me for the link. There will be a live version and a recorded version if you can't make the streaming time. No one will be turned away for lack of funds. That being said, a small donation will be greatly appreciated and truthfully, it may be the only way to keep us going into the future when this all blows over. These are trying times for everyone and we want to thank you all for your support.
