When UVA assembled a 22-member committee to shape the University's next strategic plan, only one undergraduate made the list. Meet Noah Dyer, a fourth-year McIntire student, captain of Virginia's Men's Swimming & Diving team, and the sole undergraduate on President Scott Beardsley's strategic planning committee.
Noah is honest about the weight of it. He describes "mixed feelings of excitement and pressure" in trying to represent as many student voices as possible. But instead of speaking only for athletes or Commerce students, he's chosen to serve on behalf of the entire student body.
And he's carrying a McIntire lesson with him. From Professor Paul Seaborn's strategy course, he learned that real strategy requires trade-offs, not just good intentions.
