Do these knots look familiar to you?

If knot, you may be in need of an intro to belay course! Luckily we are partnering with Grant from Blue Ridge Mountain Guides and hosting one tomorrow (Wednesday, June 10th) from 5:30p to 7:30p. We will be setting aside the auto-belay devices and teaching some old-school techniques. You will learn to belay a partner, how to tie some beginner knots and practice climbing, all free for members or to anyone with a day pass!

Meet Nick: Team Lead, Route Setter, and the person responsible for that problem that's been humbling you all week. 🙃 He's been with Rock Rev since day one and has been an awesome part of our team. Later this month, he's teaching our extended adult bouldering class (completely free for members), so come climb with him! Snag your spot on Approach!

Get to know Nick a little better below. ⬇️

Q: How long have you been climbing, and how'd you get into it? 🧗🏻
A: I've been climbing for 10 years. My high school had a climbing club that I joined freshman year, and I was immediately hooked.

Q: Favorite kind of route? 🪨
A: My favorite kind of routes are balance-testing problems that slowly pull through crimps.

Q: What's your go-to crag snack or post-climbing meal? 🍝
A: My go-to post-climbing meal is any kind of pasta. I have limited cooking abilities, but I can boil water.

Q: What's a fun fact about you? 🦃
A: I graduated from Virginia Tech, so the Saturday after Thanksgiving, I'm not cheering for UVA.

Q: What do you like to do outside of work? 🎲
A: As it's getting warmer outside, I like doing anything outdoors. I've been playing pickleball recently. I also like playing card and board games, the bigger the rulebook, the better.

Q: Favorite restaurant in Cville? 📍
A: Selvedge Brewing has some good food and drinks, and they run a solid trivia.

Q: What are you most looking forward to about working at Rock Revolution? ⚡️
A: Being able to watch people climb and grow! It's very rewarding to get to talk to climbers about their climbing improvements.

We're pumped to introduce Zach Stivers as Rock Rev's new General Manager. He's been part of the Rock Rev team before, and we're thrilled to have him back in a bigger role. He brings real passion for building spaces where people connect, grow, and push themselves, which is exactly the energy this place runs on. When he's not here, you'll find Zach and his wife somewhere near the foot of the Shenandoah hiking and brewery hopping with their dogs.

Get to know him a little better through some Q&A below! ⬇️

Q: How long have you been climbing? How did you get into it? 🧗🏻
A: I climbed for three years at Florida State, took about 12 years off, and just started climbing again when Rock Revolution opened last fall. I’m hoping to reach my college peak again soon, but my body seems to have different plans. I originally fell in love with climbing because it was one of the only things I could do better than my brother, so naturally, I kept climbing because I wanted to keep it that way!

Q: Favorite kind of route? 🪨
A: Balance-y stuff on slab is always fun, despite having terrible balance, and anything with big lobster-claw style pinches.

Q: What's your go-to crag snack or post-climbing meal? 🥪
A: Aside from ABC cookies? If I’m feeling responsible, I’ll pack a turkey, Swiss, and mayo sandwich. If I’m being lazy, just a protein shake.

Q: What's a fun fact about you? 📖
A: I love sci-fi and fantasy books! So much so that I’ve written a couple of my own. I’ve published two full-length novels, have a third coming later this year, and two new manuscripts currently in the works.

Q: What do you like to do outside of work? 🐦‍⬛
A: Aside from writing and reading, my wife and I both love to bird. We are working on our lifer lists and have seen over 300 different species in the last three years.

Q: Favorite restaurant in Cville? 📍
A: Monsoon Siam and Maharaja!

Q: What are you most looking forward to about working at Rock Revolution? ⚡️
A: Meeting all the members I haven’t yet, and seeing everyone progress in their climbing skills. I’d love to see the sport continue to grow nationwide, and to be able to drive a small part of that growth here in C’ville will be awesome.

Happy Easter! Bunny baskets are going up, golden eggs are waiting to be found until 2p. See you soon!

04/03/2026

Hop on by this Sunday and join us for an "Easter Egg Climb" in the Kids Zone! 🐰

From 9 am till 2 pm on April 5th, we will have golden eggs waiting for kids under age 15 to find (by climbing!) There will be no extra cost to participate in the activity; all you need is a normal day pass and rental gear if you don’t have your own. Climbers receive an Easter goodie bag (while supplies last) when they exchange their golden egg at our front desk! We hope to see you hop on by!

And for our adult members who are wondering, yes, we will be open on Easter at our full, normal hours (9 am to 9 pm), and the Easter egg activities will be confined to the auto-belay room. 😉 The bouldering area will be open and accessible to all climbers: young or young at heart!

Please note that the yoga class on Sunday, April 5th, is canceled.
