We've added the new Cirriform w/ Bug Skirt to our recent Cirriform comparison guide - linked in our bio under the blog
We're a small band of hikers designing and building gear as we explore mountain trails. That's where we find our inspiration and nurture our ideas.
We are a small band of hikers designing and building gear as we explore mountain trails. Our gear is inspired by every hike when the trail dealt us unexpected conditions. Those are the tough days and long nights that fuel our campfire stories and drive our design process. Our experiences lead us to design and build strong, efficient, and minimalistic shelters for whatever mother nature throws our,

When the original Swiftline went away in 2020, I always meant to bring it back.
The original was a hybrid design: built in one piece like a single wall, but with two layers separating you from the outside world for most of the shelter, like a double wall. The non-entry side had storm flaps that rolled back, letting you open the shelter almost completely for views and ventilation. It was also asymmetric, which made it interesting to look at, but pitching it had a learning curve.
The new version fixes that. It's rotationally symmetric with a rectangular footprint and double wall design. The pitch is way more intuitive, and the double wall helps manage condensation.
While my favorite storm flaps didn't carry over, the new Swiftline still opens up for air and views, though not to the same extreme; maybe half as much. Took a few years longer than I planned, but I'm really happy with how it turned out - we kept all that interior space and greatly improved the ease of use. And, it's still pretty cool to look at in my opinion!

Pack preorder ends tomorrow - we make these packs here in our Montana workshop and have four production batches scheduled for this year.
The preorder window for the upcoming production closes tomorrow, or maybe earlier if the remaining slots fill - we have three openings left at the moment.
Don't want you to miss out if you've been eyeing the pack. Next chance will be in June/July.

If you've looked at the Cirriform page and wondered which configuration might work for you, we’ve finally written a guide. Hooray!
First post on the new YAMA blog, and we're planning to keep these coming. What would you like to see us write about?
Seven configurations covered: tarp-only, bivy system, bug shelter, 1P, 2P. What each one is like to use and where the tradeoffs are. Alas, we didn’t get the new Bug Skirt option in there, but we’ll add it soon.

Earth Day is typically when we share our Climate Action report and updates. Unfortunately, we’ve fallen behind. We regret that we have no report to share, and we’ve had to step back from some of the work we had been doing.
This year, we are not seeking recertification with The Climate Label. After three prior certifications, it’s difficult and disappointing to step away from what had become a point of pride for us. Significantly increased costs from tariffs, an uncertain economy, and limited time forced us to make tough choices: we could not continue our certification work, contribute to local organizations addressing climate impacts, or offset any of our emissions (while still sewing most of our gear). While this is a setback, we will work to resume these efforts in the future.
We continue to use recycled materials when it makes sense, and in the last year, we’ve transitioned the floors of our 1P Bug Shelter and Y-zip Bug Bivy to recycled fabric, joining our Cirriform Tarps and tapered and flat tarps. We’ve also increased our use of recycled thread and webbing.
As a small, currently two-person team with very limited resources, we often struggle to decide where to direct our energy for the most impact. While we’ve faced some setbacks over the last year, we will continue to consider our climate impacts and actions in everything we do.
A lot of people have asked us about sewing in a floor to the Cirriform’s bug skirt modification, so we wanted share some thoughts on that and give a sneak peek of a future shelter design!

It’s official! We’ve graduated the Cirriform w/ Bug Skirt from the YAMA Labs (our development and testing program) into normal production!
The perimeter netting provides a lightweight solution for low to moderate bug pressure. Definitely not a great fit for everyone, but we know there are a few of you out there who would benefit from this type of setup.
The skirt adds about 68g (2.4 oz) to the tarp and works with our tub floor or our other inners for times of higher bug pressure.
As usual, the link has been added to the bio.

Glacier Blue is here, and preorders are open!
The Sassafras and Shrike are both up for preorder, right in time for summer fastpacks and epic mountain runs.
The Shrike is now available in Glacier Blue, 100D ROBIC® ripstop nylon. It's lighter than our UltraGrid options for those counting every gram. (The Sassafras remains solely UltraGrid for now.)
Preorders close at the end of April or when slots fill. We'll sew in May and ship by the end of the month.

We (re)launched the 1P Swiftline earlier this year in a pretty long length: 92" - but not everyone needs that, especially us at 5’-6 and 5’-3!!
That's why we now offer three inner lengths: Short (80"), Medium (86"), and Long (92"). Both the Light and Standard material options remain available in all three lengths.
The packaged weight of the shelter now ranges from 700 to 811g (24.7 - 28.6 oz), depending on the size and material.

Two new inner lengths join the Swiftline this week! A medium (86") and a short (80") will join the original long option (92").
Each inner will remain available in two fabric options: a lighter option and the standard option for more durability.
Complete packaged shelter weights initially coming in between 700 - 811g (24.7 - 28.6oz) depending on size and material options. The full breakdown is available on or site (link in bio).
