The updated 2026 AJSA Rulebook is now live on ajsaracing.com.

Following Round 1, we recognized that Chapter 3, Section 4 — previously titled “Unprofessional Public Communications (all aspects)” — needed additional clarification and restructuring to better reflect the AJSA’s goals of professionalism, transparency, respectful communication, and fair enforcement throughout the sport. The section has now been updated and renamed “Public Communications and Professional Conduct.”

The updated language is intended to:
• Encourage respectful and constructive communication
• Clarify AJSA’s ability to publish official rulings and penalty reports
• Protect racers, officials, volunteers, and event personnel from harassment and personal attacks
• Allow respectful discussion, disagreement, and constructive feedback without fear of disciplinary action

As the AJSA continues to grow, we are committed to improving both our race program and our communication with racers, teams, families, sponsors, and fans. We appreciate everyone who continues to provide feedback and help us build a stronger series together.

AJSA Statement Regarding Round 1 Communication & Process Improvements

As the AJSA continues to grow and evolve, we recognize that there will be times where we learn difficult lessons, adjust processes, and work through challenges as an organization. With a new Race Director, evolving procedures, and continued efforts to improve every aspect of the race program, we are committed to learning from both our successes and our shortcomings.

This weekend, we had shortcomings in several areas of communication and event procedure, including race operations, technical inspection processes, track-related communication, and internal review procedures. As the AJSA continues integrating new leadership and refining processes throughout the organization, there were instances where communication and ex*****on did not meet the standard we expect from ourselves. Regardless, the AJSA takes full responsibility for those shortcomings, and we are committed to learning from them and improving moving forward.

Following the Round 1 infraction discussion, our internal review and communication process was not handled the way it should have been. Specifically, the racer involved was not notified beforehand that a public statement would be released, and our transparency and reporting expectations had not yet been clearly communicated publicly prior to the release of the penalty report.

We understand that the way this was communicated created frustration and unnecessary tension, and we sincerely apologize for that.

Our intention moving forward is to build an organization that is transparent, fair, professional, and consistent for everyone involved — racers, crews, officials, volunteers, sponsors, and fans alike. Transparency remains important to us, but so does professionalism, communication, and respect in how those processes are carried out.

The AJSA Rulebook is not perfect, and we will continue refining and improving it as the organization grows. We welcome constructive input from racers and teams. If you have suggestions, clarifications, or recommendations regarding rules or procedures, please email them to [email protected] so they can be reviewed.

We appreciate everyone who continues investing their time, energy, and trust into AJSA. We are committed to learning from this experience, improving our internal processes, and continuing to work together to build the best race program possible.

AJSA Competition & Conduct Transparency Statement

As AJSA continues to grow, we are committed to raising the standard of professionalism, consistency, fairness, and accountability throughout all areas of competition. Under the leadership of Race Director Robert Sand, AJSA is implementing a more structured and transparent approach to race operations beginning with the 2026 season.

As part of that effort, AJSA will publicly release official infraction summaries following events when disciplinary actions, penalties, suspensions, or technical inspection violations occur.

These reports are intended to provide transparency and accountability within the racing community. They are factual summaries of official rulings made by race officials and are not intended to publicly shame or target any individual competitor or team.

This policy applies equally to all racers, mechanics, crew members, family members, sponsors, guests, pit personnel, team representatives, and anyone participating in or associated with AJSA events, regardless of class, experience level, relationships, or history within the sport.

AJSA believes competitors deserve confidence that:

1. Technical inspections are being enforced consistently
2. Conduct standards apply equally to all participants
3. Race procedures and officiating are handled professionally
4. Competition results are protected through fair enforcement of AJSA rules and standards

All rulings and disciplinary actions are issued by race director following review of the situation, available information, and applicable AJSA rules and procedures. While AJSA understands that not every ruling will be universally agreed upon, maintaining professionalism, consistency, and integrity within the series remains the priority.

Official rulings issued by AJSA are not intended to become matters of public debate through social media. Our focus is to maintain a fair, respectful, and professionally operated racing environment for racers, families, sponsors, and fans alike.

We appreciate the racers and teams who continue to support AJSA and help elevate the sport of watercross racing.
