Update: relay registration re-opened after worked out glitch. Registration is underway with more than 50 people signed up so far! We had to pause relay registration for the time being until a kink gets worked out.

2026 Swim the Suck Registration Information

Swim the Suck 2026 USMS Swimmer registration opens on April 7th, 2026 at noon ET. The event date Saturday, October 3, 2026 with the dinner on Friday, October 2nd, 2026.

NOTE: We have not yet received sanctioning from USA Swimming for minors, so are unable to open the slots for swimmers under 18 at this time. Please follow this page and our page for updates.

We are 8 days away from registration! New this year, we will be providing the opportunity for swimmers to support the Tennessee River Gorge Trust.

TRGT is a Chattanooga area land trust that serves as a leader in conservation, actively stewarding over 17,000 acres in the Tennessee River Gorge. Its mission for over 40 years has been “to conserve a healthy Tennessee River Gorge as a community treasure for generations.” TRGT envisions a thriving future for the Tennessee River Gorge where the community has great access to outdoor recreation and wildlife flourishes. TRGT helps ensure STS and its participants experience a swim bounded by the beauty of the land and encompassed by the thriving waters. If you would like to support TRGT, then indicate so upon completing your registration or click on the tab titled “Give to TRGT” in the menu.

Announcing that we will offer 10 slots for a 2-person relay for the first time this year (must switch out at half way point) and also are seeking sanctioning for 10 slots for USA swimmers (age 14-17) to allow them access to an open water race to be able to gain experience for the next Olympic trials and games :)

OK y’all — Swim the Suck is introducing a very different kind of freestyle competition this year!

Not freestyle as in the swimming stroke but as in Freestyle Tennessee Buck Dancing!

The past couple of years we’ve had a bluegrass band rocking Miller Park Plaza on Friday from 5-6pm as folks lineup to check in, so this year we’re putting that music to good use.

Swimmers, pilots, family members, volunteers, anyone and everyone is invited to participate. Rhythm is optional. Those who wear tap shoes and real cloggers will get bonus points. Who can I count on to get the party started???
