Nothing beats the feeling of taking out a client and delivering a true, remote Downeast wilderness experience! 🌲🎣
We bypassed the easily accessible spots and headed deep into the heart of the Machias River watershed, pushing up a remote, blackwater tributary until our 16' Old Town Appalachian canoe could go no further. The surrounding country out here is absolutely stunning right now—sweeping past vibrant purple Rhodora bushes, weather-beaten black spruce, and wide-open bog grass meadows. Along the water's edge, the speckled alders are just starting to push out their first bright green leaves, signaling that spring is finally taking hold in the Downeast Woods. It's pure, untouched Downeast territory and offers the kind of quiet solitude you can only find when you're miles off the beaten path.
The fish were cooperative, to say the least! We caught beautiful, native Maine Brook Trout, all sporting those brilliant, fiery wild colors. We carefully released most to fight another day and kept 3 for a well-deserved, fresh-caught meal.
