There’s a difference between giving your spouse permission and actually being in agreement with them.
Sometimes, one of you has an idea you're really excited about, and the other one goes along with it because they don’t want to argue.
They’re thinking, “It’s not that big of a deal. I’ll just let them have their way.”
But going along just to get along doesn’t create agreement.
And agreement matters.
The Bible says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” (Amos 3:3)
It’s possible for two people to live under the same roof, smile, get along, and still have two completely different visions for their marriage, family, business, or future.
One spouse thinks they’re moving in one direction, but the other is really thinking, “I’m really not on board with this.”
That’s not agreement.
You need to have the hard conversation. You need to talk about your different perspectives. You need to listen to each other. You need to work through the disagreement until you can make a decision together.
That doesn’t mean one spouse should bulldoze the other, guilt them, badger them, or use Scripture to force them into submission.
It also doesn’t mean the other spouse should stay quiet and agree outwardly while knowing they never really agreed in their heart.
You both need to be able to say, “This is what we’ve decided together.”
And once you make that decision together, you face the results together.
If it works, you celebrate together.
If it doesn’t work, you don’t point fingers and say, “I told you so.”
You made the decision as one. That’s what agreement looks like.
This is exactly why we created the Master Your Marriage Challenge.
We dedicate an entire one-hour lesson to communication and agreement, and another full lesson to vision and planning as a couple.
For $297, you can get the Master Your Marriage Challenge as a go-at-your-own-pace course. You and your spouse can sit down together, watch the trainings, pause when you need to, talk through the material, and ask each other questions.
Each one-hour lesson also comes with its own study guide, including challenge questions and homework designed for you to work through together.
When you sign up, we’ll onboard you into your own private Google Classroom, where you’ll have access to all four trainings and their study guides.
And if you have questions or need support as you work through the material, Jalen and Cacie will be there in the classroom to help you.
If you’re ready to work on your communication, get on the same page, and build a stronger vision for your marriage, sign up for the Master Your Marriage Challenge today. Just send us a DM and we'll get you set up.
