👀 TRYOUTS. This is going to be a big one. There’s so much to unpack that this might turn into a 4-part series. 🎙️🏒 So tag along, share your perspective, and help us drive the conversation around one of the most stressful, emotional, and important parts of youth hockey. Let’s talk tryouts. 👀 If you’ve been around youth hockey in Colorado (and beyond), you already know what that word brings with it. For programs and coaches, tryouts can be brutal. We hate knowing we can’t make everyone happy. We lose sleep over decisions. We’re trying to evaluate a huge number of players in a very short window, knowing every decision affects a kid and a family. For parents? It’s a completely different kind of stress. Excitement. Anxiety. Hope. Frustration. Constantly checking your phone. Wondering what the coaches saw. Wondering where your player fits. And even when the outcome is exactly what you hoped for, the process can still be exhausting. But when the outcome isn’t what you expected? That’s when things get really difficult, and that’s where some of the most important conversations in youth hockey need to happen. 🎙️ On this episode, we’re getting into TRYOUTS from both sides of the glass: what programs are dealing with, what families are experiencing, and how we can all navigate one of the most emotional parts of youth hockey a little better.
