Good evening TG Fam
Today, I wanted to touch on comparison, the truth is you should never compare your Chronic Illness Journey with another person.
ππΏEveryone heals differently.
ππΏEveryone experiences side effects differently.
ππΏEveryone navigates these unknown waters differently.
So letβs be gentle with ourselves.
Letβs not focus on the Instagram filtered pictures.
Letβs just support one another through these unprecedented times and allow each other to thrive in your own way.
I know you are ready to thrive! You should be! Letβs chat this up in the comments!

Hey there ,ββββββββ
ββββββββ
The word self care has a slightly different meaning for each individual but for us, self care may look to others as being selfish. It's not really.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
There is however the guilt you may feel after being unproductive for an entire or declining an intrusive phone call that may lead to the decline of your mental health. What I want to say is guilt is COMPLETELY normal, the guilt is normal, and taking care of your needs is also a priority. Here are some other ways to take care of yourself!ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Exercise: Even a little physical activity can make a big difference in managing symptoms and promoting physical and emotional well-being. Consult with a healthcare professional to develop an exercise plan that is safe and appropriate for your condition.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Practice stress management: Chronic illness can be stressful, so finding ways to manage stress is essential. Some stress-management techniques include deep breathing exercises, meditation, yoga, or therapy.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Build a support network: Seek support from friends, family, and healthcare professionals. Joining a support group can also provide a sense of community and offer opportunities to share experiences and learn from others.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Practice self-compassion: Be kind to yourself and treat yourself with the same compassion and understanding that you would give to a loved one.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Which one are you going to do today? Let me know in the comments!ββββββββ

Hey there TG Fam,ββββββββββββββββββI know I have been quiet for the past couple of weeks, you know life and whatnot. I wanted to jump on here to chat about the entitlement that some of us have, when it comes to growing through trials and tribulations! The thing about life is that there are SEASONS and within every season, you will have lessons. Sometimes the lessons are wayyyy harsh, and sometimes the lessons sting but best believe it, these lessons are meant to teach you, guide you and direct your path.
You donβt get a βget out of the pain of lifeβ card, it happens to be part of this thing called living.
Be encouraged today and keep going!

Dear 30βsβ¦
You gave life lessons. You gave loss and pain. You gave indescribable joy. You gave overwhelming grace, mercies and provision. You helped me grow up. You showed who God really is and who I am because he says so. You showed me my worth and taught me what I deserve. I showed up for myself and did things I never expected. Most importantly, I learned Iβm perfectly imperfect and thereβs nothing wrong with that π₯°
Iβm grateful for everything that has made me who I am βπ½
Today I turn 40 π₯³! Hereβs to living free, fulfilled and unapologetically!!

Good afternoon TG Fam!
Just a note on anxiety, when it was great within me, Godβs consolation brought joy to my soul.
When I felt to throw in the towel, you made a way just in time.
When I contemplated whether or not to follow through with my Board Certification, you reminded me of my purpose.
Do you see the trend?
ππ½ He's always present
ππ½ He's always working miracles and
ππ½ He's always bringing me through
And trust me when I say, He can do all of the above and more.
He's never let me down. He's faithful through every season. So why would He fail now?
I'm not sure what you're feeling in this season but trust me and Travis Greene when we say that He will cause those giants to fall.
If you receive this today, drop a ππ½ in the comments!

Happy Thursday TG Fam!ββββββββ
ββββββββ
It truly feels like having chronic kidney disease feels like we're being punked sometimes!ββββββββ
It's like one day, we have energy, the next day we don't.ββββββββ
It's like one day you have no pains, then the next day you are riddled with pain. ββββββββ
I have asked myself, like seriously, am I being punked? Is this a show?ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Can I get out of this season now?ββββββββ
ββββββββ
What I want you guys to know is, we don't share things like being exhausted or forgetting everything because we want pity, but we know sometimes persons often wonder 'I wonder what it's like' or 'Are they exaggerating it?'ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Even though we try to explain we may never be fully understood and that's okay.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
What are some things you really want to get off your chest TG fam? Maybe you want to debunk a myth that people seem to believe more and more every day! ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Let's have a venting session today!ββββββββ

Hey TG Fam!ββββββββ
ββββββββ
ππΎ When I was first diagnosed with kidney disease, I remember all the things that I didn't know. It was a different time then, but I am in the practice of helping others, so here I am, helping you shine your light. Here are two quick and easy tips for you to implement when you are newly diagnosed with a chronic illness.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
1οΈβ£ DOCUMENT YOUR SYMPTOMS.ββββββββ
Everything that you are experiencing is new to you and coupled with the emotional waves of being diagnosed you are going to forget a lot of your symptoms, therefore writing them down, will help. Every night do a check-in, how are you feeling today? What helped you feel better? What might have triggered some of your not so good moments? Document, document, document.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
2οΈβ£Get company for your doctor's appointments.ββββββββ
Try not to go to your doctor's appointments alone, in the beginning, you are going to need a lot of support, managing these doctor's appointments can be overwhelming and you definitely need to be asked many questions about treatment. Having another person in your corner will take some of the burdens off your shoulders so that you can focus on maintaining your new regime, whatever it is.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Those are my two tips, feel free to let me know in the comments, what is your advice for someone who is newly diagnosed with a chronic illness.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
And of course, tag someone who needs to see this.ββββββββ

ππΏββοΈHey TG Fam! READ THIS IF YOU HAVE UNSUPPORTIVE FAMILY MEMBERSββββββββ
ββββββββ
βHaving non supportive family members when you are coping with a chronic illness, issa DRAIN. Let's not move forward with this energy at ALL.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Here are some ideas for you to think about when dealing with these folks.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
1οΈβ£Recognize that some people do not understand chronic pain. Family members and friends who have not personally experienced chronic illness may not understand how it differs from a regular illness. Statements and actions may stem more from a lack of understanding than from not caring. So, if you feel up to it, you can educate folks.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
2οΈβ£Decide what to share. Unsupportive family members and friends may not need all the details about your chronic illness. It may be best to keep certain topics of conversation off-limits. For example, if certain subjects are approached, such as losing weight , let's just nip that convo in the bud.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
3οΈβ£Think about what you need from the relationship. You should consider what is required from the unsupportive family member or friend. Make the request clear and give them an opportunity to help you. For example, if emotional support is needed, ask them to check in on a regular basis and avoid minimizing symptoms. If you want transportation to an appointment, make the request directly to them instead of waiting for an offer.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Was this helpful? Let me know in the comments what you do to cope with unsupportive family or friends.ββββββββ

Hey TG FAM! Some things you can see from the photo are π€Iβm black, beautiful and smiling. But what is one thing you canβt tell from this photo?ββββββββ
ββββββββ
ππΏThat I navigate life with Chronic Kidney Disease.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
πThere is no way you can ever tell every single time when someone has an illness just by looking at them. ββββββββ
ββββββββ
ππΏSo whatβs the point here you may ask? It means that you should ALWAYS be kind. Because you have nooo idea what someone may be struggling with on the inside.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
ππΏThe battles that we fight are tremendous and sometimes we carry the weight well.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
I'm talking to my warriors today as well, it's ok if you drop the weight. It's ok to ask for help.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
ππΎ I'm betting that there are facebook groups and communities, just like mine where you can vent and ask for support.ββββββββ
ββββββββ
Or how about you VENT BELOW ππΏ

β β β β β β β β β
