2020 Scholarship winner was Jomar Matos. Jomar used his scholarship to attend all Summer camps by City Kids in Summer 2020. He will be ready when wrestling resumes in Milwaukee. Excited to watch Jomar progress.
The Milwaukee Big Cat Scholarship is available for any local wrestler looking to compete or go to a developmental camp.
We give out one scholarship a year to a deserving individual.

In 2019 Jalin Conner made the Greco State finals and qualified for the Wisconsin National Team to compete at Fargo. He used his scholarship to help fund that trip. Jalin went 7-2 at Fargo and made us proud. I may or may not have been kicked out of the tournament.

2018 Scholarship Winner Raquel Rojano. Raquel was a runner up at state this year and her scholarship helped fund her trip to Oklahoma to wrestling on the Wisconsin National Team. Raquel would go on to be a state champion the next year. She is currently studying at the University of Wisconsin. Ronald Reagan alumni

In 2017 the first Big Cat Scholarship was awarded to Jalin Conner. Jalin used his funding to go to UW-Parkside Future Ranger Wrestling Camp. Jalin would qualify for state the next year. After graduation Jalin took his talents to Parkside and now competes on the Ranger wrestling team.

In Summer 2015 the Milwaukee Big Cat School of Wrestling merged with City Kids Wrestling Club. Roger Quindel and Cory Husher led the merger. We combined our forces to impact more kids in the area together. It has been an amazing partnership to say the least. This is our last team photo at the banquet/merger,

Blessed with a wrestling room in Milwaukee Bradley Tech High School. The Big Catz practiced the international styles of wrestling Freestyle and Greco Roman. The Big Cat School of Wrestling was officially open to high school students. All students were new to the international styles. We would fundraise and compete in local developmental competitions. This was Spring/Summer 2015.

Spring 2015 we got our first sponsor and had T shirts for the upcoming season. We wrestled in my old singlets or Tech HS gear. Always easy to find the team in the lime green. A student at Tech helped me design the Big Cat Logo.

In the Spring of 2014 Coach Kennelly and several Tech Trojan wrestlers began to wrestle in the offseason circuit. When forced to make a team name, The Milwaukee Big Catz was chosen over the popular “Black Angus” name. The name was a tribute to the Vittum Catz of Chicago, the formative team of my youth. The team was lead by state finalist Mohammed Fall and state qualifier Diremius Gordon. Our first tournament was the Purple Pummel at my alma mater UW-Whitewater. It didn’t take us long to get noticed...
