Happy Halloween!

A lot of people get in the mindset of Halloween being a "free" day. It is very easy to get derailed.

I want to encourage you to be mindful as you move through the day. Limit your sugar intake. Enjoy but don't over indulge.

Get a workout in over your lunch hour or right after work.

Spend some time in meditation and journaling.

Just because it is a "holiday" does not mean there needs to be alcohol involved.

Today is National Child Health Day. One thing that comes to mind is Nature vs. Nurture, and which is more important. When it comes to child health, teaching positive habits to children is the cornerstone of their development. While sometimes a child's poor health has nothing to do with nature or nurture, the majority of the time teaching positive health habits has a far superior lasting effect. Here are some effective strategies to teach your children:

1. Lead by Example - Children learn by observing. Demonstrate the habits you want them to adopt. Be sure you are consistent and that your actions align with your words.
2. Positive Reinforcement - This can be through praise, privileges, or tangible rewards.
3. Set clear expectations that are age-appropriate and communicated clearly.
4. Routine and Structure: Kids thrive in routine. Incorporate desired habits into the daily routine.
5. Teach Problem-Solving
6. Encourage age-appropriate independence, and encourage a sense of responsibility for their actions.
7. Limit Screen Time
8. Open Communication - Listen attentively to your child's thoughts and feelings, and show empathy and understanding.
