Stoked to be linked up with again to bring adventure, campcraft, and FUN to the Forest Preserves Explorers program. at the helm with a stellar program weaving land nav and shelter building…and wait for it… invasive species removal. That’s right. All of that is buckthorn! These crews of young adults learning the trades of conservation are putting in the WORK to bring the forest preserves of cool county back to a thriving ecosystem of native species. Be gone, buckthorn!

Explore the depths of adversity and emerge with confidence and perspective. The young men from Chi Psi came from all over the country to build on their leadership skills and what a trip we had. There was no easy road - enduring climbs, humidity, epic rain, and long miles couldn’t break the spirit of this crew.

Got to hand it to this adventurous family! 4 miles, a couple wet water crossings, a toddler and a mom who is at 20 weeks were determined to unplug and see our beautiful waterfalls.

Vegan cookie S’mores. Paging to tackle this campfire classic. This was made with Tates vegan chocolate chip and Dandies marshmallows. Crushed it. Gotta get that perfect balance of crispy outside, gooey middle on the mallow.

Should we include “footwear condition” on our pre trip forms? Spent the better part of a roll of med tape to hold the soles of these boots together when there was no cord. Seriously though, how do both boots lose their soles on the same hike? You could say the 2400’ descent was soul crushing 🤭

Over the summer our Campalachians visited Great Smoky Mountains National Park to learn from our friend Natrieifia who is a Ranger at the park. Under Natrieifia's guidance we collected data on the terrestrial macro-invertebrate population at Purchase K**b. An unforgettable experience for everyone.
