The Neighborhood House is hosting Playstreets. Bring the family outside to play. Starting at 4pm October 17, 2012 we will have activities to promote stepping out of the house and enjoying our community. We will close off the street around the Neighborhood House to create a safe space for kids to play, outside. Combating obesity through fun physical activities. This is a step in helping to keep our street safe for families. We have plenty of fun activities like basketball and double dutch. This is an initiative by the Chicago Department of Public Health and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois to promote active and safe neighborhoods. Can't wait to see you there.

would like to remind everyone that we are starting our martial arts classes tonight at 6pm. We are adding martial arts this year, every Wed evening at 6pm. The classes are open to youth as well as adults, free of charge. Come on out to share in an evening of movement and community.
The Neighborhood House would like to thank the Knowledge Hook-up and Patty Fisher for their wonderful donation of two Dell computers to the center. They came complete with flat screen monitors, keyboards, and a mouse. Your contribution will be useful to our homework program, many thanks. It is the great contributions from the community that make it possible for the Neighborhood House to provide the quality services and programming. The Neighborhood House will be hitting the road again this morning. We head north to Seward Park 375 W. Elm St. We will be participating in the LISC Cross City Championship, the final tournament of the Hoops in the Hood 2012 season. The theme is "Playing for Peace, Unity and Respect. If you would like to stop by and cheer on our South Chicago contingency, the event kicks off at 11:00 am today. We will be joined by Claretian Associates, YMCA Street Intervention Program, and Ceasefire. Everyone have a safe, happy weekend.
