GUS Giordano Dance School (GUS LEGACY®) established in 1953 is a destination for dancers from all over the U.S. and abroad. “I am honored to continue my father’s legacy of not only providing the best dance education, but also teaching skills that will carry into all facets of life,” says Gus’ daughter and owner Amy Giordano. At the peak of the pandemic, GUS adapted immediately to provide high quality virtual and safe in-person classes year-round to dancers age 2 to professional in Ballet, Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Tap, Modern, Musical Theater, Commercial Jazz & more. Summer programs for children starting at age 2 include GUS Camps and Tiny Tots. Summer Intensives for pre-professional dancers include Ballet Intensive, College/Pro Intensive, Contemporary Intensive, GUS Intensive, Hip Hop Intensive, Jazz Intensive, Musical Theater Intensive, Pre-Professional Intensive, and Tricks & Turns Intensive.

Seventy-six years ago today, Gus Giordano and Margaret “Peggy” Ann Giordano began a love story that shaped generations of dancers♥️

In 1996, Mizzou’s College of Arts and Science honored Gus with a Distinguished Alumni Award.
He didn’t give a speech. He danced. “Tribute to Peg” was his way of saying what words couldn’t.

Happy anniversary to two people who built a legacy together, on the stage and in life. We are endlessly grateful to both of them. Their love still lives in every class, every rehearsal, and every dancer who walks through the doors of GUS.

It’s hard to put into words how much Michael will be missed.
His joy of teaching radiated the room — always positive, always supportive, always exactly what his students needed. When GUS moved to Chicago in 2011, Michael was the first master teacher we welcomed in, teaching that summer with the same warmth and light that he always carried with him.
He gave so much of himself to the dance community, and that spirit will stay with all of us who had the privilege of learning alongside him.
Susan and Ian — everyone at GUS is sending you love and hugs during this incredibly difficult time. Michael’s legacy lives on in both of you and in every student he inspired❤️
