The club consists of all ages and abilities from beginners to professionals. We usually bike on Sundays as weather permits
and our distances and trails very.
The Polka Circle Bicycle Club officially started in 2012
when three people met up on a hot, 96 degree, Sunday morning
to bike together around Argonne National Laboratory
on the Waterfall Glen Trail in Darien, Illinois. We are riding and discovering biking paths in the Chicagoland area
but we are not avoiding more remote locations (like WI, MI, IN).

The Constitution Trail is an extensive (24-mile/39 km), paved multi-use pathway in Bloomington,IL. And although it was very windy last weekend I enjoyed foliage along the way.
(Did you know that in 2005, Golf Digest ranked Bloomington-Normal as the Fifth Best American City for Golf in their "Best in America" Metro Golf Rankings. -ranked based on four different criteria: access to golf, weather, value of golf, and quality of golf).

This year I started my cycling season in Virginia (and Maryland). And I started it on a bicycle rented from a street stand. It worked! And it worked well. Check out my pictures:

To do so, you will work several Bicycle Illinois events as a staff member and also participate in/shadow several other regional cycling events on a part time basis this season. Doing so will allow you to learn and gain the experience necessary to transition into a full time professional event manager this fall for our new events next season.
The position will be based in the Lakeview neighborhood on the north side of Chicago with significant opportunities for telecommuting during the off season.

Another sunny day (although a bit chilly) perfect for a biking adventure. We started in Hyde Park, went along the lake shore to downtown, an back to Hyde Park. Great company! Another awesome day on a bike.

Today I had a chance to bike together with members of bicycle club: Women Bike Chicago. We had a lot of fun! Especially that I had my first flat on the road and I didn't have anything to fix it. But between all ladies from WBC we found all needed tools, parts and power to correct it. Thank you all!

It was necessary for me to somehow celebrate the first day of spring. So in spite of the penetrating cold wind I could not resist a bicycle ride.
I am so happy I found time to ride 10 miles, to enjoy sunny day and to discover new for me trails around Highland Park. I just wish I had some company but this trip was not planned and I couldn't even think of someone who would join me last minute.

Finally I found time to get out of town and explore on bike new trails and neighborhoods. This time it was Gary, Indiana and lovely Marquette Park. It was so beautiful that we will have to come back here soon.
