Consectatio Pro Mediocris On St. Patrick's Day 2008, a few drunken men met in Bridget McNeill's Grill and Pub with a vision. Needless to say it was a success.

A vision to create the most mediocre football team that the Lakeview area of Chicago had ever witnessed. Welcome to Belmont Football Club.

Not since the Battle of Bosworth has a British duel been as eagerly anticipated as today's match-up between the historic Belmont FC and the NKOTB Wolves. It lived up to its billing with an aggressive, fast paced affair, with both teams flying into tackles early doors.

Early in the 1st half, Joe Milner nudged home a deflected cross despite a fantastic save by Walker Rice, another product of the Belmont Youth Academy.

A strong crowd of Belmont FC supporters were vocal throughout the game, spurring their team on and it wasn't long before they had something to cheer about. After a quick counter attack, Belmont FC had the Wolves' defence switch to the 'circus formation' leaving an empty net for debutant Daniel 'The DOC' O'Connor to hit a sweet 40 yard lob. All square.

In the 2nd half the aggression levels turned up a notch with a few hard tackles and a lot of moaning from the Wolves, mainly turning on each other as they became frustrated at not being able to break through Belmont FC's heroic defence. The final whistle blew and it was honours even and handshakes all round.

Pre-match self-styled favorites the Dire Wolves will leave the match disappointed they couldn't break through the Bellends rugged defence as often as they hoped. Belmont FC's Gaffer Andy Stone will be happy as his tactical masterclass had the desired effect.

Onward and upwards Bellends. Consectatio Pro Mediocris!

Belmont FC 5-1 The Real Men

After a even keel first third the Bellends took control in the next two thirds with stern defending and energetic midfield play. Wolff, on loan from the Chivs, made a few strong saves and wasted a few minutes once the Belmont had taken the lead. A great team performance all round despite a few hangovers.

Belmont FC 2-1 Chicagoals FC

The unbeatables progress to the semi-final after showing great resilience to come back from a goal down. The sterling defence were unlucky to go behind midway through the first half with Belmont FC having a lot of possession and a lot of chances to take the lead. However after a whipped in corner wasn't dealt with by Chicagoals' keeper, Smith was manhandled to the floor (not for the first time) and a justified penalty was given. It seems the only way teams can stop Belmont FC from scoring recently is by cheating. Thankfully the expert refs are not fooled by any teams snide attempts.

In the second half Belmont continued to turn the screw with the opposition keeper pulling off numerous saves to thwart the frontline. However the continual pressure paid dividends when Smith fed the ball through to Blair who smashed it into the right corner of the net. A few rough tackles, handbags at 2 paces and many choice words later, Belmont FC successfully progressed to the Semi Final match-up in 2 weeks time.
