๐ LMS Chicago โ Round 5 Wrap-Up
The weather's heating up and so is the cricket. From six-hitting fireworks to last-over heart-stoppers, Round 5 had it all โ big scores, big finishes, and some breakout performances.
Game 1: Louisville Sloggers ๐ v Fenders ๐ต๐
The Sloggers got things rolling in style. Mohammad Umar Swadi launched into the Fenders attack with a brutal 72 off 33 balls โ fours flying and sixes soaring. But the Fenders werenโt going down without a scrap. Mark Akeroyd (3/18 off 4) led the fightback with clever variations, backed by Kyle Chard (2/31 off 4) and Mark Pawson (2/27 off 4), who was his usual miserly self. A steady hand from Salman Syed (41 off 37, 3 sixes) pushed the total to a strong 151/8.
The Fenders stumbled out of the blocks, losing 3 early wickets. But then came the calm โ Chard and Pawson dug in, working the scoreboard and getting the run rate down to a manageable 8 an over. Just as things looked stable, disaster: Pawson and Jason Tooms fell in quick succession, and suddenly it was Chard and Tom Delaney needing serious runs in the back half. The Sloggers bowled tight โ Syed (1/32 off 4), Azhar Uddin (2/28 off 4), and Swadi (1/22 off 4) all putting the squeeze on. But Chard wasnโt done. He exploded into another gear, finishing on 83* off 54 balls with a flurry of boundaries and cool-headed calm, sealing the win with just 2 balls remaining.
๐ช Result: Fenders win by 3 wickets
Game 2: Chicago Swans ๐ฆข v New Yorkers ๐ฝ
Another rematch with history โ and another gritty effort from the Swans with the bat. Michael Freeman looked in form early, carving his late cuts for 35 off 21 before falling. From there, it was a game of patience. The New Yorkers' bowlers hit their lines: Saiprakash Kodela (2/17 off 4) was unplayable, Rahul Reddy Adunuthula (2/38 off 4) struck with key wickets, and Manikandan Balasubramanian (2/25 off 4) kept the lid on things. But the Swans kept fighting โ Xavier Snowman and Tom Delaney each made valuable 33s at the death to lift the Swans to 138/7 from their 20 overs.
The New Yorkers didnโt panic. Lakshman Gundapaneni (1/35 off 4) got the early breakthrough, but that would be it. From there, it was a masterclass in controlled aggression. Ravi Santhosh Varma Yeragudi (53* off 37) and Rahul Reddy Adunuthula (51* off 30) were all class, pacing the innings to perfection and chasing it down with 3 overs to spare โ never looking in doubt.
๐งน Result: New Yorkers win by 7 wickets
Game 3: Philadelphia Sixers 6๏ธโฃ v Texas Range Hitters ๐ค
If Texas knows one thing, itโs how to take a game to the wire. Their openers were on fire โ Harsha Kolupoti (44 off 34) and Zarif Khan (52* off 28) piled on 90 in the first 11 overs with clean, attacking cricket. The Sixers pulled things back thanks to some tight spells from debutant Shiv Naik (1/17 off 3), Ithmam Jabari (0/12 off 2), and Prudvhi Pokela (0/23 off 4). A late cameo from Omer Furqan Mohammed (30 off 18) helped Texas finish on a strong 163/6.
The Sixers came out swinging. Sejan Rahman set the base with a steady 35 off 35, allowing the middle order to attack. Shovon Al Sayeed (51* off 31) and Shiv Naik (50* off 20) were electric โ smashing boundaries and rotating strike perfectly. But just as they hit their peak, both had to retire under LMS rules, leaving the door ajar. Texas capitalised. Sourabh Gujar (2/26 off 4) and Priyank Bore (2/33 off 3) bowled clutch overs, while Omer Furqan Mohammed (0/23 off 4) kept things miserly at the death. With 8 needed from the final 5 balls, Texas struck twice in four balls for just 2 runs. That left 6 needed off the last ball. Shovon returned to the crease needing a home run... but couldnโt clear the rope. Another final-ball thriller for the Range Hitters โ and another win.
๐ฏ Result: Texas Range Hitters win by 5 runs
๐ฅ Round 5 Highlights
๐ Player of the Round: Kyle Chard โ 83* in a pressure chase and a key spell with the ball
๐ฃ Power Performance: Mohammad Umar Swadi โ 72 off 33, absolute carnage
๐ Bowler of the Round: Mark Akeroyd โ 3/18 in the high-octane Sloggers clash

๐ LMS Chicago โ Round 4 Wrap-Up
From epic cameos to wind-whipped heroics, Round 4 delivered drama, grit, and a touch of magic.
Game 1: Chicago Swans ๐ฆข v New Yorkers ๐ฝ
It looked like the perfect day for cricket โ until the wind showed up like an uninvited guest, swirling across the ground and making both batting and bowling a game of survival.
The Swans took first strike and, after an early loss, two of their finest went to work. Cooper Lees (50* off 44) played the anchor role to perfection, while Patrick Lucey (50* off 30) counterpunched with flair โ quick hands, clean hitting, and relentless intent. Troy Oberholtzer, the Swansโ newest revelation, continued his dream start to LMS life with a cool-headed 29* off 30. Their combined efforts lifted Chicago to a competitive 138.
The New Yorkers? They didnโt blink. Shiraz Khan (49 off 28) came out like he had a dinner reservation โ fast hands, fearless strokeplay. Karthik Chintada (41 off 24) matched him shot-for-shot before Rahul Reddy (45* off 24) shut it down in style with a late-innings blitz. Sixes and swagger โ the New Yorkers chased it down in just 15 overs hitting over 16 boundaries including 6 Sixes.
๐งน Result: New Yorkers win by 6 wickets
Game 2: Fenders ๐ต๐ v Texas Range Hitters ๐ค
The Range Hitters came in hot after last weekโs Houdini act, but the Fenders were ready to spoil the party. Batting first in brutal conditions, Texas put up a respectable 115 thanks to Priyank Bore (34 off 28 with 3 monster sixes), Zarif Khan (27 off 20), and Danish Khan (17 off 14). The Fendersโ bowlers shared the spoils, with all six taking wickets โ capped off by world class bowlers Mark Pawson (1/9 off 1.3) and Ernie Gibble (1/5 off 1) cleaning up the tail like seasoned pros.
In reply, it looked simple on paper: just six an over. But Texas had other plans. Omer Furqan Mohammed (3/12 off 4) bowled like a man possessed, backed up by Anjal Bhattarai (1/20) and Sourabh Gujar (1/23), who kept the noose tight and the scoreboard slow.
Enter Darren Coombes โ debutant in the LMS format, but all class. His 46 off 44 anchored the innings, with Brett Parry (22) and Ernie Gibble (16) offering vital support. With 8 needed from the final over, Kyle Chard stepped up and delivered a Martin Guptill-style finish โ 15* off 9, two huge boundaries in the last over, and pure calm under fire.
๐ช Result: Fenders win by 2 wickets
๐ Still undefeated after four rounds.
๐ Player of the Round: Patrick Lucey โ back-to-back fifties and the Swansโ heartbeat
๐ฅ Finish of the Round: Kyle Chard โ ice in the veins, match in the bag
๐ช Impact Debut: Darren Coombes โ 46 on debut in testing conditions
๐ Bowler of the Round: Omer Furqan Mohammed โ 4 overs of chaos, 3 wickets, just 12 runs

๐ LMS Chicago โ Round 3 Wrap-Up
From solo standouts to last-ball heroics, Round 3 had everything including the wind and cold. Letโs break it down:
Chicago Swans ๐ฆข v Louisville Sloggers โพ๏ธ
Classic Chicago conditions kicked things off โ windy and wild. The Swans won the toss and took the bat, but the Sloggers were ruthless with the ball from ball one. Mohammed Umar Swadi (0/7 off 4) was surgical, choking the run rate, while Salman Syed (2/19 off 3) and Muhammad Abdallah (2/12 off 3) ripped through the top order like a hot knife through butter.
It couldโve been a disaster, but in walked Patrick Lucey โ fighting, and swinging for his team. He finished unbeaten on 62* off 48 balls, scoring more than two-thirds of the Swansโ total and single-handedly dragging them to 90.
But the chase was one-way traffic. Khundmeer Syed (30* off 18) channeled Travis Head with fearless intent, and Eshaan Mohammed (50* off 28) looked like he was batting on a different pitch โ sweet timing, clever placement, and fireworks galore. The target was erased in just 9.3 overs.
Result: Louisville Sloggers win by 7 wickets
New Yorkers ๐ฝ v Fenders ๐ต๐
By Game 2, the wind had dialed up to ridiculous, turning the boundary hunt into a full-on cardio session. Sent in to bat, the New Yorkers had to earn every run the hard way. Ravi Varma anchored with a superb 43 off 45, including one towering six that had people ducking. He was well supported by Shiraz Khan (24 off 30) and Rahul Reddy Adunuthula (21 off 17), helping the team post a fighting 100.
The Fenders' bowlers rose to the moment. Mark Pawson put on a masterclass (2/2 off 2), doing Richie Benaud proud. Kyle Chard (1/17 off 4) was consistent and composed, while the entire attack kept wides and extras to a minimum โ no small feat in that breeze.
Highlight moment? Justin Biggs โ arguably the most athletic man in the league โ pulled off an absolute screamer at third man. Sprinting to his left, at full-stretch, and grabbing the ball one-handed with his left mitt. Unreal.
In reply, Fenders opened with clear intent. While others swung big smashing boundaries, Xavier Snowman played the anchor. He finished with a gritty 42 off 35 โ no boundaries, just elite placement and relentless running. It was controlled, clever cricket that saw the Fenders home with four wickets in hand.
Result: Fenders win by 4 wickets
Philadelphia Sixers ๐ v Texas Range Hitters ๐ค
The final match of the day almost ended before it began โ Texas lost 5 wickets inside the first 5 overs. Anjineyulu Boya (3/21 off 4) and Shanmukh (2/22 off 4) were unplayable early, leaving Texas reeling.
But cometh the hour, cometh the fight. Harsha Kolupoti (31 off 27) and Krithin Arukala (36* off 38) dug deep. It wasnโt flashy, it was gritty โ lots of hard running, smart strike rotation, and just enough aggression to lift their side to 103.
The Sixers came out looking calm and confident. Sejan (26 off 22) and Anjal Bhattarai (39 off 38) had things in control โ at one stage, they needed just 18 runs off 27 balls with 6 wickets in hand.
Then came the twist. The Range Hitters locked in. Avinash Sharma (1/20), Sourabh Gujar (2/24), Paras Agrawal (2/19), and the always dependable Omer Furqan Mohammed (2/7 off 4) applied pressure like pros.
With 5 balls left and 3 needed to win, the Sixers had their last batter in under LMS rules โ only a 2, 4 or 6 would score. Priyank Bore fired in a perfect yorker, squeezed out as the batsmen took on the field for a couple of runs. But some lightning-fast fielding got the ball back to the keeper and boom โ run out complete. Texas by two runs in a game that will be talked about all season.
Result: Texas Range Hitters win by 2 runs
๐ Round 3 Highlights
๐ Player of the Round: Eshaan Mohammed โ 50* and another key knock in the chase
๐ฅ Catch of the Round: Justin Biggs โ a one-handed miracle at full stretch
๐ช Lone Warrior Award: Patrick Lucey โ 62* in a sea of collapse
๐ฎ Comeback Kings: Texas Range Hitters โ from 5 down in 5 overs to snatching it at the death

๐ LMS Chicago โ Week 2 Wrap-Up
Another wild week in Chicago โ the rain left its mark the day before, the flags flew high (and nearly away), and the cricket was full of fireworks. Letโs get into it:
New Yorkers ๐ฝ v Philadelphia Sixers ๐
The morning mist still hung around, but the Sixers came out swinging after winning the toss. Anjal Bhattarai looked sharp on debut, cracking 30 off 28, and Sahil Malhotra toughed it out with a gritty 26 off 26, bad leg and all.
But then, enter Karthik Chintada โ the destroyer. His 3/10 off 4 overs absolutely ripped the heart out of the innings. Backed up by Ravi Bura (1/13) and Manikandan Balasubramanian (1/15), the New Yorkers kept the Sixers to just 68.
The chase? Blitzed. Rahul Reddy Adunuthula was cooler than the other side of the pillow, smacking 44* off 24 balls and dragging the New Yorkers home inside 9 overs. Smooth.
Result: New Yorkers win by 7 wickets
Louisville Sloggers โพ๏ธ v Texas Range Hitters ๐ค
This one was a runs fest.
Khundmeer Syed lit it up early (39 off 20), with Ali Syed (21), Azharuddin Mohammad (42), and debutant Eshaan Mohammed (52* off 34) who batted like Brian Lara piling it on. Sloggers marched to a mighty 171/6, with only Omer Furqan Mohammed (1/21) and Harsha Kolupoti (2/23) keeping things semi-under control.
In reply, Omer decided he wasnโt done โ hammering 35 off 23 to kickstart the Range Hittersโ chase. Priyank Bore (34) and Sanjay Krishna Sriram (a breathtaking 50* off 28) kept hopes alive.
But LMS rules struck โ Sanjay had to retire, and with 12 an over needed at the death, the mountain got steep.
Despite late fight from Krithin Arukala and Harsha Kolupoti, the Sloggers held on tight, thanks to Eshaan Mohammed (2/30) and Vamsi V (1/22) closing it out.
Result: Sloggers win by 14 runs
Fenders ๐ต๐ v Chicago Swans ๐ฆข
The Fenders flag somehow survived the winds, and so did their openers โ Brett Parry looking like Mark Waugh (53* off 37) and Justin Biggs running like Michael Bevan (41 off 42) ran the Swans ragged, setting up a late blast from Andrew Ward (24*) and Mark Akeroyd (25* off 12). A strong 143/1 posted without breaking much sweat.
Swans had a crack early โ Pat โCumminsโ Lucey launched a monster six โ but the Fenders attack swarmed like bees.
Cooper Lees (25) and Mike Freeman (18) fought back, but wickets tumbled fast. Andrew Wardโs spell (3 wickets for 1 run ๐คฏ) completely turned the lights off. Pawson (1/2), Gibble (1/6), and Akeroyd (1/7) cleaned up the tail.
Swans bowled out for 65.
Result: Fenders win by 78 runs
๐ Week 2 Highlights
Player of the Round: Andrew Ward - 3 Wickets for only 1 Run
Breakout Star: Eshaan Mohammed โ debut 50* + 2 wickets = dream start.
Heart Award: Sahil Malhotra โ batting through injury like a warrior.
