Living everyday like it’s my last!
May we never again blame ourselves for things out of our control.
Success is

The 5x5 Rule:
If something won’t matter in 5 years, don’t spend more than 5 minutes being upset about it.
People do not decide their futures. They decide their habits and their habits decide their futures.

I was so shocked to find this out
There’s something called Self-Silencing which is the idea that women suppress their own identities, feelings and emotions in order to develop and maintain relationships so as to ensure they appear “agreeable” - this is based on Dana Jack’s research
Becoming a mother can include drastic shifts in a woman’s identity, feelings and emotions.
When I became a mom, I felt like I was going crazy
On one hand, I was an extremely ambitious, high-achieving go-getter
And on the other hand, I cared for a tiny human and just wanted to have snuggles all day
After a few months of being a mom, I yearned to get back to my career and goals but that felt so wrong and so selfish
All the mom postpartum groups I attended had many stay-at-home-moms and the 1-2 other working moms were crying and so emotional about not wanting to go back to work
Then there I was looking forward to going back to work
They looked at me like I was an alien asking - you’re excited to go back to work?
I explained to them, yes, and just because I am doesn’t mean I’m not enjoying motherhood or I don’t love my baby
After spending 24/7 with my baby for 3 months, I wanted to be around other professional adults, having conversations about things that didn’t involve diapers, sleeping, feeding, etc
I hated that I was having to defend myself for wanting to focus on my career, so I SELF-SILENCED
I didn’t talk about anything that I was feeling because society was telling me that I was a weirdo and “bad” mom for feeling this way
For a long time, I hid my true self from the world
I felt guilty for not liking all the traditional things moms like (baking, crafts, sewing, etc)
I felt guilty for spending time on myself & pursuing my career
It wasn’t until after I had my second baby that I finally started to truly learn what my identity as a new mom was…
And that is Unapologetic
I no longer care about what others think about how I mother because I now know that I can be a kickass woman AND mom at the same time - I don’t have to choose.
So here’s to the mamas out there making it happen. No matter what kind of mama you are…never apologize for it and under no circumstances shall you ever SELF-SILENCE!
If you can’t decide, the answer is NO.
