OPENING DAY is almost HERE!!!! CVS is going to be balling out of control when the season starts!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There are several other brands of youth baseball in America. 'Little League' is probably the most well known, with other smaller brands as well. Pony Baseball is different than other youth baseball leagues in many ways. The rules of play are designed to maximize player development and minimize chance of injury. Players 5-14 years old are placed in division strictly by age at two-year intervals so that kids are competing with others their same age.

Field dimension (base paths and pitching distance) are gradually expanded with each division to match the growth and development of young players. This ensures that all players will compete on a field that matches their abilities and improves safety concerns that can occur when older players are on fields that are too small.

Most importantly, young players are introduced to more advanced rules at younger ages, so that they are challenged with new baseball concepts as they grow. Pitching, stealing bases, and other "complete game" elements are introduced at a younger age than in other youth baseball brands.

Overall, it is our view that Pony Baseball offers the best opportunity for development, while also being safer than some other programs. It is our belief that there is a better chance to play at a higher level (whether that is travel, high school, or even beyond) by getting a start in Pony Baseball.

Chula Vista South Pony Tryouts 2014



January 25 - First tryouts of the 2014

Start Times. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to start time for warmups

9:00am - Mustang Division

9:20am - Bronco Division

9:45am - Pony Division

Tryouts will consist of field work from the infield and outfield. Batting practice and baserunning.

This is also open for all 2013 property players returning this year. Utilize this time and get some practice.

Each player to show up with gear and he/she suited in baseball attire. (Baseball pants, White T-Shirt and cleats) CVS Pony will provide a number for the players.

Just a few more days before tryouts! Did you sign up? !!!!!

Chula Vista South Pony now allowing FULL complete teams to signup for all DIVISIONS.

Registration fees will include pictures and uniform with the option to buy out the seasons fundraising program.

Our league provides competitive baseball rules (MLB rules). Our league is perfect for the year around competitive Baseball Player.

Players Evaluations / Tryout Schedule
January 26, 2013

Coaches, please arrive 30 minutes early to get your evaluation sheets and to review the procedures.

We are asking for all players to arrive 30 minutes early to check in and warm up. Wear an old t-shirt with your tryout number clearly visible on the front and back of the shirt. Make sure you bring a glove, bat, helmet, cleats and baseball pants & cap (if you have them). Wear a protective support cup. If you don't have a bat, the league will provide one for use during the tryouts.

Shetland and Pinto players do not try out.

Mustang 8 year olds tryouts are at 9:00 am

Mustang 9 year olds tryouts are at 9:30 am

Mustang 10 year olds tryouts are at 10:30 am

Bronco 10 year olds tryouts are at 11:30 am

Bronco 11 year olds tryouts are at 12:30 pm

Bronco 12 & Pony 12 & 13 year olds tryouts are at 1:30 pm

Pony 14 year olds tryouts are at 3:00 pm

We want to ensure all team managers have the basic knowledge to train the youth of our community and we want all parents to know that all CVS Pony coaches will be trained through our league, so that their children will get proper training on the basic fundamentals of the sport of baseball.
Volunteer applications will be available on-line starting December 1, 2012.
Training sessions will be at the CVS Pony Clubhouse on January 17th and 24th from 7pm - 9pm.
All Managers must complete these training sessions in order to participate in the league player draft.

NEW LEAGUE BOUNDARIES WITH SHARED AREAS
Pony Baseball has modified league boundaries and have implemented larger shared areas for players to select which league they would like to play for. This is very important for All Star selections. Please contact a board member to find out if or how this would apply to you.
