The Boston Athletic Association has announced that the 124th Boston Marathon will be held as a virtual event, following Boston Mayor Martin Walsh’s cancellation of the marathon as a mass participation road running event due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

All participants who were originally registered for the April 20, 2020 event will be offered a refund for their full entry fee associated with the race and will have the opportunity to participate in the virtual Boston Marathon, which can be run any time between September 7–14.

The B.A.A. will offer a series of virtual events & activities throughout September’s Marathon Week to bring the Boston Marathon experience to the world. This will include exclusive panel discussions, champions interviews, and a downloadable toolkit with signature race elements.

Participants in the virtual 2020 Boston Marathon will be required to complete the 26.2 mile distance within 6 hours & provide proof of timing. All finishers of the virtual race will receive an official Boston Marathon program, participant t-shirt, medal, & runner’s bib.

I’ve always been an advocate of no more than 10% of our daily calorie intake (at rest) encompassing added sugars for the many detrimental health reasons stated in this article. However, it is important to note that because sugar supports the metabolic demands of exercise, athletes need to consume more than sedentary folk. This is generally accomplished with the food/supplemental choices (e.g., sports drinks/chews/gels, honey, chocolate milk) many athletes consume intake before, during, and after training.

It contains baby spinach, avocado, walnuts, carrots, tomato, cucumber, mozzarella, and a Don Lee Farms veggie burger (Costco). Hate that we live in a culture where there seemingly is more shaming than applause when a mother rocks a fitness routine in pregnancy. New guidelines encourages 150+ minutes of exercise, and not just the conversational type, in pregnancy as it has been proven to be good for momma and baby. I’m very happy my doctor, Wade Schwendemann, provided me with guidance and encouragement during my 2 pregnancies so I could enjoy running rather than feel like I had to hide doing so. It also encouraged me to research and publish a chapter on the subject matter for the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics professional text. Kudos to all the women I have seen or currently seeing inspiring with a fit pregnancy!
