Meet Reshmi and Tahir!

Tahir: 🏸
I started playing badminton in the 4th grade, learning it from friends in the badminton team that used to travel everywhere with my table tennis team during tournaments back in the day. Hadn’t touched a racquet in over a decade, decided to join the club to fill my weekdays since Table Tennis plays only Tue and Thurs. Had to drag Reshmi to come play the first time. Now that’s her job.

Reshmi: 🏸
My dad introduced me to badminton when I was 16. It was our weekend ritual to stay active. Tahir introduced me to this court, and I’ve been playing here for 7 months now. I’ve played on and off for about 2–3 years in total.

When my husband and I came to Cincinnatti 7 months ago leaving behind the comforts of our home country, I felt lost and alone in a new city. We didn't know anyone, and everything felt unfamiliar. After about 3 months we found a local badminton group, and it changed everything. Playing with everyone brought us joy and helped us meet new people. Currently this city doesn't feel scary anymore and makes us feel at home😊
