You can find turkey strut zones from your couch.
Here’s what you’re looking for on the map:
Water near an open area with high ground. Toms want to be seen. They want to strut where hens can find them.
But they’ll also strut in the middle of the woods. Ridge points with thick canopy and little undergrowth give them a clean floor to work. If they can see 50 yards yards in every direction, they’ll use it.
Find the water, find the edge, find the high ground. That’s your starting point.

A compass can make you more lost than having nothing.
Most hunters carry one as a backup and have no idea how to use it.
Here’s the problem nobody talks about.
There are 3 different “Norths.” Your phone uses one. Your compass uses another. Your topo map uses a third.
True North: the actual pole. Fixed.
Magnetic North: where your compass points. Moves every year. Right now it’s sitting in Canada.
Grid North: what your map’s grid lines are built on.
None of them are the same.
Pull out a compass without knowing this and you could be navigating 30 degrees off without realizing it.
One mile at 30 degrees off puts you half a mile from where you intended to go.
You’re not more prepared. You’re more lost.
Ghost Country covers this from the ground up.

Turkey season is here. Here’s how I’m finding birds before I leave the couch.
I’m looking for three things in OnX: open fields, heavy canopy, and a water source.
Seasonal water has dashed lines. Year-round water has a hard line. That difference matters.
If I were a turkey, I want the option to fly down over water and avoid predators. Or fly out into the field once everything looks clear.
Find a setup where all three overlap. That’s where birds are going to be.
Download the Edge Bible free. It’s the same system I use for whitetail e-scouting - and applies directly to this.

The same terrain navigation skills I used as a Green Beret apply in the whitetail woods.
Down range, we predict enemy movements. In the woods, I use those same skills to predict how deer move through terrain — and eliminate dead zones fast.
That mental framework is what I distilled into the Edge Bible. It’s a free download at waywardridge.com.
