FCC Softball starts up for Spring League 2019 on Tuesday March 12th.
Well, I see Facebook beat me to the punch, so I won't work to build up the suspense... but yes, FCC has returned the Championship Trophy back home after a 3 season drought.
Congratulations to the Team for finishing up the regular season with a couple of convincing victories and then continuing to rise to the occasion for each of the 3 playoff games.
I'll have to say Mother Nature came in with a strong second place this season. There were so many weeks of rained out games, that I found myself having trouble remembering who we had on our roster.
As always, I'd like to thank the players for their dedication and for representing FCC with class (winning or losing), and also thank our Stats Team for keeping track of the analytics, and wives, who let the guys come out and play on Tuesday nights.
The Fall season practices and games will be starting up in August and FCC Sports looks forward to another exciting season of Men's Softball.
Game #2: Mother Nature by a Rainout
With FCC excited to get back on the field after last weeks big win, Tuesdays rainout was a bit of a disappointment. The rain was needed and the game will be rescheduled at the end of the season, so no lose.
This weeks game is at 7:45 vs Hope International.
FCC Turns Up the Heat in Season Opener
Facing both a chilly breezy evening in the mid 50s and last seasons Champions, FCC could have been thinking of just getting the game over with, so they could get back to their warm homes.
Clermont Baptist returned this year with their roster of Big Bats and in the early going it looked like they were going to be too much to match, but a few mid-game rally's and some strong defensive stands allowed FCC to pull out the 13 to 11 win.
Congrats on a great performance!
Game #2 is Tuesday at 6:30.
FCC Falls in First Round
The 2017 Fall Season began in stellar fashion with the Green and Gold sportiing a 4 and 1 record at the halfway point. The second half of the season was not as kind as they dropped the remaining 5 games heading into the playoffs on Tuesday.
FCC kept the game close and within reach against the top ranked Methodist Team, but couldn't find the bats to answer their final round scoring run.
The season may have ended early but the boys in Green and Gold left looking forward to the 2018 Spring Season.
Look here for information on next years practice and game schedule.
FCC Sputters as Playoffs Near
With the final game of the regular season set for Tuesday November 28th, FCC remains hopefully even after dropping it's last two outings against Hope International and league leaders Clermont Baptist. Both games were close early on. but a few lapses resulted in deficits to deep to dig out of to pull out wins.
Good all around efforts in both games keep their hopes alive for a strong showing in the playoffs starting Tuesday December 5th.
Come out and support your Team! Go FCC!
I see I've been neglecting my Sports reporting duties... so let me see if I can do a descent job of updating folks on the 2017 Fall Church League action. The season started off with Mother Nature having the upper hand. After 4 weeks into the season it was FCC 2 Mother Nature 2. As the dust settled after IRMA's run around the bases, play got back underway. The Boys in Green and Gold were heading into what looked like another strong season showing 4 wins to 1 lose by mid season. Early 6;30pm Games 6 and 7 caught FCC a little under gunned, as they were handled discharged. With 3 games left FCC finds themselves in 3rd place behind last years undefeated Clermont Baptist and new comers a very strong United Methodist Team. To see some of the action from this seasons most exciting game to date, check out the video posted by Christy Van Wagner. No game this Tuesday, but the Team is back in action Tuesday Nov 7th at 8:45 vs Hope International. Hope to see you at the field... GO FCC!
2017 FCC Men's Softball Fall season begins Tuesday August 29th.
Weekly practices begin Sunday August 13th at 6pm.
LET's PLAY BALL!
FCC takes 2 of the last 3
After Dropping the first two games, but showing promise, The Green and Gold went into the seasons half way point with 3 very strong performances resulting in Wins against The Church At South Lake and Mosaic.
Congrats on the Victories!
Game #6 is this Tuesday at 8:45 vs Clermont Baptist Church.
FCC Shows Promise in Loss to Warriors
After succumbing to the bitter cold of game #1, FCC bats respond to the warmer temps of Tuesday nights game. Realizing they might not be able to match the fire power of the South Lake Warriors this early in the season, FCC was encouraged with their overall performance. Final score 26 - 13.
Game #3 Tuesday night at 6:30 vs Church at South Lake
FCC Iced in Season Opener
Kicking off the season in 40 degree temperatures and high winds didn't turn out to play into FCC's favor as they fell to Clermont Baptist 19 to 5.
Game #2 vs last seasons Champions, South Lake Warriors at 7:45.
It's FCC Time!
After our long winter break FCC Men's Softball is back!
Game #1 of the 2017 Spring Church League Season begins Tuesday March 14th at 8:45pm.
It's Time to Dream BIG Again!
After a tough fought 17 to 15 loss to Mosaic last week, FCC was determined to be on the winning side of last nights thriller vs Clermont Baptist. Things weren't looking good early as FCC found themselves down early in the game by 8. They managed to scramble ahead by 1 at the midpoint, but with just a few innings left in the game they found themselves once again looking up hill at an 8 run deficit.
Not losing hope, FCC battled back. You couldn't have written the script any better.... bottom of the final inning... 2 outs... down by one with the bases loaded... top of the batting order...
I guess you should have come to the game..... :)
Game #7 vs Church at South Lake Tuesday Oct 4th at 6:30pm.
FCC working out the kinks... drops 3 in a row.
With Game #5 of the Fall Season just a day away, The Green and Gold continue to tweak and tune the roster of over 8 new players, gearing up to make a strong run thru the second half of the season and into the playoffs.
Blessed with so many talented players over the years, FCC Sports thanks all the new players that have joined the squad this season and we look forward to continued success.
Go FCC!
Game #5 vs Mosaic Tuesday night at 8:45pm Minneola Sports Complex.
FCC Takes Season Opener
With the start of the new season, there is always the first game anticipation of who's coming back from last season, how the new recruits will play, and of course... how good is the competition.
The first half of the game you could see signs of summer off-season rust, but both Teams began to heat up making for a very exciting early season outing.
A few scoring rally's backed up by several strong defensive stands insured FCC the 11 - 6 game #1 victory.
Congratulations and thanks to both the returning and new players for working together for the "W"!
Next game Tuesday night at 6:30pm vs Church at South Lake.
FCC Men's Fall Softball Season begins Tuesday August 23rd.
We're always looking for new talent to come out and join in on the fun and fellowship.
It's FCC Time!
FCC TAKES CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Ending the season with a record of 7 - 3, FCC took their 2nd place standing into the first round of the playoffs against Hope International. FCC emerged with the win and the chance to move to the semi-finals.
The semi-final game pitted FCC against a much improved Mosaic Team. Mosaic jumped out to an early lead behind some impressive batting. It looked like perhaps the opportunity to "Repeat" was slipping away, until the FCC bats responded taking a 7 -6 lead. Mosaic knotting up the game 7 - 7 going into the final inning. After a strong FCC defensive stand, the Green and Gold mustered up the hits to bring in the tie ending run for the 8 -7 victory.
The Championship game matched FCC up against a re-tooled Church at South Lake Team. FCC worked their way to a commanding mid game lead of 12 to 2 and in their minds were already envisioning holding up the trophy. CLS had other plans and responded with an 8 run inning, bringing FCC's lead to an uncomfortable 2 run margin. Realizing their was still a few innings to play and that their opponent was not conceding defeat... the Green and Gold went on a batting rampage putting the game out of reach and clinching their 4th Championship in the past 5 seasons. Final score 22 - 10!
Congratulations FCC for another great season!
FCC Holds off HOPE
What started out looking like a lopsided victory for FCC, turned into a nail biter as the boys in Green and Gold were able to turn some mid game "trials and tribulations" into an 18 to 11 victory.
With the win, FCC has moved into first place with 3 games remaining.
Next game is Tuesday 26th vs Faith Point at 6:30pm.
FCC stops Mosaic in First Inning KO
After shutting down Mosaic in the top of the 1st inning, the boys in Green and Gold got up to hit... and they hit... and they hit... and they hit... As the first inning ended and the dust settled the score was FCC 15, Mosaic 0.
Finding it hard top the first inning, the remaining 3 ended with little fanfare as FCC left with a 19 to 3 victory and a single inning batting spree that will go down in Team history.
Congrats on a fantastic game!
Next game is Tuesday April 19th at 7:45pm vs Hope International
FCC Drops First Game of the Season
After an impressive start of the 2016 Spring Season with two convincing victories, FCC was a little flat against a re-tooled Mosaic Team. The men in Green and Gold maintained a small lead throughout in this relatively low scoring game, but a few defensive miss-cues allowed Mosaic to slip past for the 10 to 7 victory.
Next game is Tuesday the 29th at 8:45pm. Come out and support your Team.
FCC Flag Football season is underway. Next game is Sunday March 20th. Watch FCC Sports for game times and results.

Church League Softball 2016 Spring Season begins Tuesday March 8th. Plan to come out and support returning Champions FCC!
FCC 2015 Church League Champions!!!
Tonights Final Round began with FCC taking on #2 Clermont Baptist. CB came into the finals with only 2 loses one to Lakeside and the other to FCC, so this match was expected to be a real battle and lived up to the hype. Trading great defensive plays and offensive runs, both Teams came with their "A" games giving the crowd an exciting game to watch.
Unfortunately for Clermont Baptist, when the whistle blew and the dust settled, the boys in Green and Gold were heading to the Championship game.
Great efforts on both sides, but someone has to win. GO FCC!!!
The Championship game put FCC against their good friends at Hope International. Hope after going 0 and 10 for the season, shocked the league by taking out last years Champions and #1 Lakeside. This earned them a bye to the Championship Game and gave them the advantage of waiting as FCC went toe to toe with Clermont Baptist.
Double Headers are always a challenge for us weekend warriors, but FCC wasted no time letting Hope that they were up for the challenge and wanting to end this one early. Building a sizeable League FCC started feeling the effects of their earlier game which opened up the opportunity for Hope to make a run. But before they were able to close the gap, one of their players incurred a serious knee injury, which put a damper on their charge and prematurely ended the game.
Our Prayers go out to their player and we wish him a speedy recovery. Over the seasons we have formed a strong bond with the players from Hope which transcends winning or losing. We thank them for a great playoff run and wish them a Blessed Thanksgiving.
FCC Sports would like to thank all the players that participated on this years Team and their wives, families, and friends that have faithfully followed us on this seasons journey to the Championship.
Have a Blessed Holiday.... see you in January... GO FCC!!!
FCC Takes a Win in Round One of Playoffs
Hoping to repeat last weeks win against Mosaic, FCC continued their consistent offensive and defensive play to jump out to any early lead and build on it each inning. Mosaic managed to muster up a few batting spurts, but FCC was going to be denied their return to the Chapionship Round.
Final score FCC 12 Mosaic 5
FCC plays in the Semi-Finals Tuesday the 24th at 6:30pm.
The winner of that game goes on to play Hope International, who with their 0 - 10 season, shocked unbeaten Lakeside. Just goes to show "any Team can beat any Team on any given Day".
Go FCC !!!
FCC Powers Toward Playoffs
With the Regular Season coming to a close , FCC wanted to continue their string of strong wins into next weeks playoffs. Tuesdays game pitted them against Mosaic who had "up'd" the boys in Green and Gold pretty handily 10 to 5 in their first outing. Luckily this time the tables were turned, as FCC lead from start to finish... taking a convincing 24 to 8 victory.
The first round of the Playoffs begin for FCC this Tuesday at 6:30pm vs, none other than, Mosaic. With one win a piece and the threat of "win or go home", this should be quite a showdown.
Come out and support your Team.... GO FCC!!!
FCC shuts down Baptist Big Bats
Tuesdays Game # 9 pitted FCC against 2nd place Clermont Baptist, who came into the game leading the league in Runs Earned by over 30. Hoping to just hold their own, FCC surprised their opponent jumping out to a solid lead which they kept throughout. Both consistent offense and defense where the keys to Tuesdays convincing win over a heavily armed Clermont Baptist Team. Final score 15 to 7.
Next Tuesdays game is at 6:30pm vs Mosaic. It's the final game of the regular season. Playoffs begin Tuesday November 17th.
FCC holds off Church at South Lake
What started out as having the makings of a potential blowout after the first, ended up being a tight battle going into extra innings with FFC edging out CSL in a Texas Tie Breaking by one. Final score 12 to 11.
Game #9 this Tuesday night at 8:45 Minneola Sports Complex.
Will the Real FCC please stand up... :)
After limping thru the first half of the season averaging just over 6 runs per game, FCC surprises Hope (and themselves) with a record setting 35 runs in just 4 innings. Scoring a respectable 3 runs in the top of the first inning and then stopping Hope, the boys in Green and Gold went on a 16 run barrage putting the game out of reach after 2.
Final score after 4 innings: 35 - 0
With rain makeup games, the schedule got adjusted this week pitting FCC vs Hope... I think we're going to wish we could have saved up some of those runs, as we face league leading Lakeside next Tuesday at 6:30pm.
If we play any where near how we played tonight... Tuesdays outing should be an exciting game.
Go FCC!!!.
Wow! Where have I been....
The Fall Church League is halfway thru the season and FCC is tied for 3rd after tonights loss. The Team put up a good fight but were unable to string enough runs together to out pace Mosaic. Final score 5 to 10.
Next game Tuesday at 6:30pm vs Lakeside.
