Angel Martinez homers, ad the Guardians top the Angels 3-2 to continue home dominance 💪

05/12/2026

Travis Bazzana challenged a strike call, lost the review… then immediately smoked a two-run double into the gap.

Before the pitch, Bazzana turned to the umpire and simply said:

“My bad.”

One pitch later, he made the Angels pay anyway.

The numbers still don’t fully show how advanced Bazzana’s approach already is at the MLB level.

🔹 12 walks in first 11 MLB games
🔹 20.8% walk rate
🔹 Only 12.5% strikeout rate
🔹 One of the lowest chase rates in baseball

“He’s doing that at a very young age and a very early time in his career,” Guardians bench coach Tony Arnerich said. “That’s what elite hitters do.”

Even with a lower batting average early on, Cleveland believes the process is already there.

Bazzana continues to control the strike zone, work deep counts, and attack pitches with conviction.

And when the hits start fully matching the approach, the Guardians may have something special.

Major Trade Alert. 🚨

The Cleveland Guardians have acquired two-time Gold Glove-winning catcher Patrick Bailey from the San Francisco Giants in a significant early-season shakeup.

Bailey, 26, is widely considered one of the premier defensive backstops in the game.

After years of waiting, Franco Aleman is finally headed to Cleveland. 👀

The 6-foot-6 right-handed reliever has earned his MLB opportunity after dominating Triple-A to start 2026.

Aleman has completely overpowered hitters this season with a fastball-slider combination that nobody in Columbus could consistently touch.

🔹 Career-high 53.9% zone rate
🔹 42.3% strikeout rate vs right-handed hitters
🔹 Sub .200 xwOBA against righties
🔹 Increased fastball and slider spin

His delivery makes at-bats uncomfortable from the start, especially for right-handed hitters. Aleman’s fastball ties hitters up inside before the slider disappears away from the barrel.

And honestly, Cleveland needed this.

Outside of Cade Smith and Erik Sabrowski, the Guardians bullpen has struggled badly at times in 2026. Peyton Pallette has battled command issues, Connor Brogdon has been inconsistent, and Cleveland has desperately needed another power arm for meaningful innings.

Aleman may not be a guaranteed star immediately, but he gives the Guardians something they’ve been missing:

A legitimate high-upside bullpen weapon.

The Guardians top the Royals, 3-1, to stop the 3-game skid 👏

Chase DeLauter: 2-4, 2 RBI, 2 B

Guardians fans are reaching their limit with Bo Naylor.

🔹 6 wRC+ this season
🔹 Among the lowest batting results in MLB
🔹 Yet underlying metrics suggest extreme bad luck

That’s the strange part.

His contact quality is actually improving.
His plate discipline hasn’t collapsed.
And the advanced numbers say better days should come.

But baseball doesn’t wait forever.

Especially when Triple-A catchers are heating up behind you.

José Ramírez is getting close to baseball history.

🔹 291 career home runs
🔹 Already over 300 stolen bases
🔹 Just 9 HR away from the 300/300 club

Only seven players in MLB history have ever reached both 300 homers and 300 steals.

And now Cleveland’s franchise legend is almost there.

One of the most underrated superstars of this generation.

Chase DeLauter is heating up again, and this looks different.

🔹 8-game hitting streak
🔹 12-game on-base streak
🔹 .419 over his last 12 games
🔹 5 extra-base hits, 9 RBIs
🔹 More walks than strikeouts

After pitchers adjusted early…
he adjusted right back.

The power is returning.
The confidence never left.

And now the production is catching up again.

This isn’t just a hot streak…
this is a rookie figuring it out in real time.

Chase DeLauter reflected on the ups and downs of his career, from stints of surviving injury recovery in Arizona to now thriving in Cleveland. 🗣️💭
